I Don’t Like THIS New DoorDash Feature (Here’s Why…)

In this doordash driver video, I talk about a new screen that's popping up for dashers requesting them get the customer's signature before delivering their order. This is DoorDash's attempt to combat customer fraud, but is it enough and will it even work? Will it help protect DoorDash drivers?

If only I had watched this video sooner! I’m new and got a signature order and didn’t know it had to do with distrustful customer. So I followed the gps but realized they put the wrong address, instead of calling support I called the customer LIKE A DUMBASS. Told him what happened and he sent me his location and I was stupid enough to drive to it, only to find it wasn’t the right address again- so I called again. I finally found him and it turned a 12 min dash into a 1 hour dash for 6$.After he signed all he said was thanks and walked away. I like to think I’m a genuinely a nice person but I’m never doing this again, wasted my time, my millage, and gas. I’m calling support now.

Door dash tracks us by our GPS. They know when we are at the customer. It is just easier for them to put the blame on a dasher than a customer being shady.

This would be even better than the PIN. Have the customer come to the door with their phone in hand, with the app open, and THEY scan some kind of QR code on the Uber driver app on MY phone. It's easy. No customer's filthy hands with who knows what bodily fluids still on them touches my phone in any way.

I like the pin idea. I think it's much better protection for the driver

When a "signature" is required I don't "hand the phone over". I hold the phone and turn the phone toward them to sign.

The signature is a flimsy deterrent, does nothing for the driver.

I agree Zach, I prefer leave at the door. The PIN is smart, Uber uses it, but customers still don't confirm it or come to the door. Instead of waiting out an 8-min timer, it should be 2mins for the customer to bring their butt the door. 2mins clocks down pretty quickly. Once the 2min timer expires, it will prompt a leave at the door and the customer is sent a reminder that if they choose the Hand to Me or Meet at the Door, they need to choose Leave at the door if they have no intentions of meeting the driver because the driver has other deliveries. Holding up drivers can cause delay in deliveries, etc. They need to craft a message that alerts the customer, and in order for them to order again, they need to accept that they read it

I really hate that DD and Papa Johns seem to think that a customer who has put "leave at door" needs a damn phone call to discuss where to put the order.... Seriously WTF. Where else are we gonna put it? In the mailbox? Trash can? In the pool? Of course you should leave it at the front door, or where the customer said to put it. Making us call them is so stupid it is classic DD.

Wrong address happens a lot, its usually next door, i delivered taco bell an extra 3 miles once because the customer was actally in the Hospital, once a customer tipped me 20 bucks to change the address, got a free shopping order a couple times recently due to wrong addresses.

I'm not sure if DD shows take a picture of receipt. They've started that in Saint Louis, MO.

AND THIS IS WHY I DO NOT DELIVER "AGE" APPROPRIATE ORDERS MAKES NO SENSE.
THIS IS LIKE POLICING CUSTOMERS 🚔 AND I HAVE NO
TIME FOR THAT BS..

I took a picture of delivery at door that included the house number. DD didn't accept it as proof. They kept telling me I offered nothing concrete that I had delivered the order.

hand my phone to a That'd be a hard no.

So what if the customer has covid or some disease and they're handling your phone and then giving it back to you

I refuse to do earn by time. I do not hand my phone to customers. I dont do cash on delivery. I refuse to deliver to updated addresses as its almost a guaranteed contract violation. Yes a pin system is definitely safer for the driver.

Instead of the signature, it should be required to snap a photo of the person holding the bag

even better system. Driver stays with the customer and makes sure the customer eats everything and likes everything.
