I personally think BTS has been working on a Korean album for some time now and that the English songs have been just to keep the fans satisfied. Dynamite and Permission to Dance are feel good songs to make people feel happier throughout this very depressing pandemic. Butter however, is BTS' attempt to win a Grammy. Permission to Dance definitely isn't my favorite song by BTS, but it still made me really happy :) I'm really excited to have more Korean songs when the time comes!

Edit: I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with D’angelo not liking PTD btw!! I was just giving my two cents. People are free to like and dislike whatever they want :) let’s be civil in the comments please 💜

It makes me kinda sad that their Korean songs don't get as much attention despite being WAY BETTER than the ones in English... and I 110% agree w/ this.

I hate how we can’t criticize kpop idols etc without being accused of being a hater?? Or how we’re not allowed to dislike a song without being called a fake fan.

“The only person I Stan is myself” I’m going into 2022 with that energy. This is what I need in life

It genuinely makes me so so sad that the only songs BTS have not written, composed, or produced themselves are the ones that are hitting no 1 on billboard and being nominated for Grammys. They have a 250+ song discography that they’ve written themselves and poured their hearts, souls, and blood sweat and tears into, and yet it’s the western top 40 oriented pop music WRITTEN BY WESTERN ARTISTS W NO EXPERIENCE WRITING KPOP that are being recognized. Yes, BTS deserves to be commended for their outstanding performances, but they deserve even more to be recognized as the artists, musicians, and rappers that they have proved to be for 8+ years.

“I blame Ed Sheeran” is a sentence I’ve used a lot actually, like when I heard the song for the first time

I feel like Ed sorta stereotyped how a Bts song should be and stuck to his impression while doing these lyrics. Just like D'Angelo said, Permission to dance is the kind of song people not knowing anything about Bts assume Bts to perform. Since Ed claims this is his favorite Bts song, clearly he hasn't explored a lot of their works and he just threw some random happy lines and na na na in it to make it sound Bts enough.

I remember Ed saying this is his favorite BTS song which either means he’s very arrogant or has never listened to another BTS song.

If your happiness evaporates because someone doesn't like the same thing you do, you were never happy to begin with.

Im a HUGE fan, but dynamite, butter, permission to dance are all just songs they made just to chart internationally

I remember seeing someone in the community post before this released say “as long as the video isn’t about bts, you’ll be fine.” Good foreshadowing

Honestly Twitter is the worst place to state your opinion on anything lol.

"Permission to dance sounds like what i thought BTS music was before i actually listened to any of it " EXACTLY all 3 English songs will be the excuse people use to discount BTS. Whether that's unfair or misguided is another conversation but a lot of people will think of them as the artists who sing those songs

I’m a BTS fan but I do agree with most of your criticisms, actually. There IS a lot of vocal processing, the lyrics ARE more shallow than what we’re used to from them, the music video IS sorta random. The thing is I still like the song anyway. I can’t say I love it, but I like it enough to listen to it often. I guess that’s where we differ and that’s okay.

There is definitely a portion of the fandom that is so submerged in BTSing that they can’t distinguish anymore between whether they truly like a song or whether they only like it because it’s a BTS song. Not all reactions can be positive and that doesn’t make the negative ones wrong.

Imagine listening to blood sweat and tears and then listening to this. No words.

honestly the "if you're a girl group stan you are a boy group anti" vice versa, is such a kpop thing and it DOENSNT MAKE SENSE

fans that defend everything a person/group puts out have to come to the realization that you don’t have to like every single thing your faves put out. and it’s okay to have an opinion and it’s okay to enjoy/dislike things!!

honestly I’m fine with the english songs I’m just tired of this whole happy pop easy dance theme they have going on. I want them to release more songs like blood sweat and tears, danger or fake love or black swan. doesnt matter what language it’s in
