How they portrayed Patrick (the oldest sibling) in this movie was perfect. My oldest sister always played 3rd parent to emotional moments, and since he had been around Marley since the beginning, he understands the severity of the situation, even at such a young age.
“He knows.” has so much weight to it.

This Scene hits harder when you lost your own pet. I recently lost my Childhood Dog, Deputy. May you rest in peace, Old Girl. You're in a Better place now.

You know something? The longer you wait, the harder it's gonna be for him to adapt. And the harder it's gonna be for you to let him go. - Sheriff Gordy, Open Season (2006)

I remember the slight collective chuckle in the theater when Connor said "I hope you like heaven and there's "Plenty to Chew On."
It was all sniffles and sobs the whole last 10 minutes of the movie, but that little bit there was a much needed light moment, considering Marley must be wreaking Holy havoc by now 😂😢❤

“He knows”
It’s so simple, but it’s true. A loved Dog knows it was loved at the end.

It hits me hard emotionally because of me having to say goodbye to Lily on 8-7-2023.

This scene really hits me hard in the heart. I know Marley was suffering, I know that surgery could have almost certainly led to complications and I know that sometimes, putting a dog to sleep is the kindest thing, but, it still feels horrible. Also, I know, it's a film, but, it all feels so real watching Marley suffering, getting put down and then burried afterwards. My first dog Poppy was burried in my Grandparents garden. So was their dog, my Aunt's dog and My Uncle's cat. Much more recently, I had my second dog Lily cremated after she was put down. We keep her in a little tiny urn and keep it on a shelf in the living room to remember her.
