Why you should never accept the first offer

In 2018, I lived in an apartment complex across the street from a HUGE development site that took up the whole city block. I took walks down the sidewalk outside my complex almost daily, and I could see all the nails and debris littered in the street. 😳

🚗 There was no way for me to exit the apartment complex without driving on that road, and in a span of a few weeks, I had two flat tires with nails in them.

The first time, I just accepted my fate and paid for it. But the second time? No way.

So I looked up the development company and started rogue-emailing everyone I could find. Finally, someone responded apologetically and cut me a check to replace my tires. 🧾

You never know if you don't ask! Most things in life are negotiable — even the stuff that feels like an "oh, shit" moment.

Don't miss this week's episode on unexpected budget intrusions and how to deal with them without losing your cool.
