It’s without a doubt that casual style is abundant in the 21st Century. As much as that particular item baffled us, we noticed something in our search results; not all casual outfit ideas are bad, with some of them actually being very wearable within a classic mindset.

However, this varying level of quality when it comes to casual outfits means it can be really confusing to work out not only what does and doesn’t look good, but what is and isn’t acceptable to wear out and about.

Mastering casual style is important for a number of reasons. First, most people will accept you far easier if you’re dressed casually. Mastering casual style will also make you feel more comfortable. Also, it gives you more freedom.

Casual style is increasingly acceptable in a greater number of places nowadays. Like before, this may initially feel like a negative thing if you’re a lover of classic clothing, but it’s still actually a positive: you’ll have more options for what you’re able to wear to a greater variety of things.

Even with a more accepting outlook, planning outfits for those formal occasions are typically easier as you know you won’t be going fully casual.

I do love all your videos, but I doubt any will be as influential as this one, I'm currently in the process of transferring from super casual, jeans and hoody all day every day, do a formal style, this is like my bridge, my gateway

I'm a big fan of chinos these days as my go to "casual" look. I do wear jeans for everyday wear - they're practical and hard wearing. So if I am just out doing the weekly food shop or picking my daughter up from school, a pair of jeans and a polo are just fine, usually with a pair of boots. But if I am going out for a social occasion, I like to dress it up a little bit and for that, chinos are usually the foundation of all my outfits. I currently have 4 pairs - Desert/Khaki, Navy, Off White and Burgundy. Paired with a nice shirt (and I have a few really stylish casual shirts I picked up while I was in Venice), I think they're a much better option than jeans, especially so during the summer months. And you can go one step further and build up with a waistcoat and/or sport coat and it still looks quite smart while being comfortable and casual.

I went out a few weeks ago to a friend's birthday party (my Italian tutor) and some of her other friends were there. I hadn't met them in over a year and that was the only time I had ever met them. But they remembered me, not because they remembered what I look like but because they remembered my style, which is usually built on a foundation of chinos, shirt and brogues or loafers

As a father of young children, I find this one spot on. It's very difficult for me to dress at an high formality scale, as I need functionality to be around those little guys, yes all guys. I aspire to dress casually, but with a certain style, keeping quality garments that fit well in my wardrobe.

(edit:) I usually like knitwear in the winter and good polos in the summer, both for function and comfort.

Thanks for shouting out the Guyabera. Some people sleep on Cuban style of the 40s and 50s, It’s worth looking into. Reminds me of my father, he was Cuban born but lived in Manhattan and was obsessed with classic style.

Usually I quite like to wear cardigans, Arran sweaters, and wool roll necks, but also nice tweed sports jacket’s aswell, with some Barbour and trench coats aswell

Would Gentleman's Gazette be interested in making a video about "sport shirts" in the future? Referring to the loop collared, generously cut shirts, often with one or two chest pockets and worn casually with or without tailoring in the 1940s & 1950s, often in bright colours or flannel, rayon etc. Ethan Wong has written a great deal about them on his blog. You covered some of its descendents in this video; the Cuban collared shirt for one, and I know Preston calls his short sleeved patterned summer shirts "sport shirts", a kind of modern equivalent.

I strive for a casual elegant look. Black jeans, a loosely buttoned shirt and I also have a waistcoat with matching back and an almost jean-like material. On colder days I use my beloved nice and long, black trench coat.
