Story behind the song (also connected to Reon film clip):
An artist called Reon had a wife/lover called Leia who he loved dearly. One day there was an accident (i think car accident from all the road sences and in Reon you see her lying on the road) and Leia was killed leaving Reon in despair. In his sadness Reon began to paint a portrait of his lost love, as he did he slowly went insane and believed the painting was real and fell in love. He believed the painting was really Leia and began to withdraw from the world but at some point near the end of the painting reality hit him. He wanted the girl in the painting to call his name as Leia once did and end his grief but it didnt happen. He finished the painting then killed himself while burning everything around him, including the portrait.

Ugh, the way that she says "Leia" is so heart-wrenching!

the official anthem of getting obsessed with a fictional character:

This song reminds me a lot of the game Anna. For those that don't know, it's about a man who falls in love with a statue named Anna that he steals and keeps at his sawmill and slowly begins to obsess over. So he begins to go mad forgetting his wife and children in the process. His wife damages Anna's face in an attempt to snap him out of it, but only succeeds in angering him to the point of murdering both her and the children.

The event is so traumatic that it strikes him with amnesia, but soon Anna begins to "call" to him once again, leading him back to the sawmill. As he goes deeper for his search for Anna, he sinks back into his madness as her "voice" grows stronger. Eventually he finds Anna (who's face is half damaged) at the end of the cave below the sawmill where he kept her. The entrance to the cave collapses, trapping him inside, but he does not care because Anna is with him forever.

Edit: Forgot to mention, that upon realizing that he is with Anna forever, the broken half of her face is slowly mended and then fully restored in his eyes. It truly demonstrates the blind and radical love/obsession that he harbors for Anna.

I wish that more Vocaloid songs were like this.

The meaning of the song is:
There was an artist, he painted a girl and he creepily fell in love with her
so he ripped of his eyes because he wants to escape reality
then he burned himself along with the painting when he realized a painting cannot return his feelings

Is it just me or does the guitar represent the painter, while the piano represents Leia/the painting.

You have most of the time a very strong guitar with a subtle piano in the background. A piano that is a mix of beautiful and wild, feeling a bit insane. And everytime he interacts with Leia the piano gets louder. For example if you listen to the starting seconds. There was no (painting of) Leia, which is why it's just purely chaotic. The piano... the painting sets in and it feels at least a bit controlled. And in the end he (the guitar) sits with the painting (the piano) in the flames and suddenly everything stops.

As a person who hated rock songs, that beginning is literally the reason why I love rock vocaloid songs now.

It's 2021 and honestly there are only a handful of vocaloid songs that make me feel what this song makes me feel

According to the Vocaloid Wiki, this song is about an artist who paints a beautiful girl and falls in love with her, but then realizes he can't be with her because she's fake and so he goes crazy and kills himself and burns the painting along with him. The title of the song, Leia, is a pun on the word Lie, meaning an illusion, a fake. It kinda reminds me of the horror game Ib...

My dad named me after princess Leia, but I really want to say it's from this.

I know that the meaning behind this song is really messed up, but this song, I find it be so very beautiful and quite tragic, I mean he falls in love with a girl that isn't real. It makes me feel sad for him.

Still one of my favorite Vocaloid songs to this day, after about 4 years.

Most Vocaloid are about either:
A: sex
B: Suicide.
Sex and Suicide...
