Imagine people wanting to tell a story that is authentic to their history and culture. How dare they.

They would never dare question the lack of diversity in a story about Africa or Asia

Mads is a gem, 100% love his work and agree with his attitude

We should make a game about a 17th century African country and ensure that there are plenty of White, and Asian characters that everyone in the game just accepts as totally normal for said 17th century African country.

Or a historic game about Italy with a single NPC of each diversity check box all standing in a single room tucked away where their only lines of dialogue are, "I'm (demographic here) representation. I check X number of diversity check boxes."

I partly blame the reporter in how he framed the question but that clip also done the reporter dirty, the full context is that he further clarified that a South Korean film Parasite is eligible for the Oscars because it has a diverse cast of 100% Koreans but a movie based in a Nordic country in the 1750's wouldn't be eligible for the same Oscars because it's not diverse even though they both have the exact same amount of diversity.

The reporter wanted to highlight the hypocrisy of Hollywood.

Edit: Spelling and Grammar, Parasyte is a worthwhile anime :p

According to Netflix there was a Black queen of England, Hannibal Barka was black, Cleopatra was black, and there were Black Norwegian queens.

I'm Asian and I'm so sick these representation diversity crap.

someone asked I believe an Argentina team why their sports team wasn't more diverse and he replied "cause this isn't a Disney movie"

I actually feel sorry for the reporter. He wanted to point out that a Movie with an all Korean cast was eligible for Oscar nominations, so why wouldn't a movie with an all Danish cast be eligible? The Oscar rulings are just flat out racist against caucasians.

Saying Cleopatra is black like saying hot wheels toys cause car accidents

You know there's gonna be a non-gender specific bot going like: oh aCtUaLlYyyy Europe was historically pretty diverse.

The fact that Mads is just laughing makes me love him even more and more proud to be a Dane

Reporter sounded like he was pointing out the hypocrisy that an all Korean movie was eligible for awards but the all Danish movie wasn't. Not that he was reeeeing the movie isn't diverse.

I'm Danish. I was around 12 years old when I first saw a person of color outside of television.

Pretty sure spotting a non-white in 1750 Denmark would be like an impossible game of Where's Waldo.

Go watch the full clip instead. This one is editing out what is actually a fair question:
A Korean movie with a full Korean cast is eligible for rewards by American standards, but a Danish movie with a full Danish (Caucasian) cast can't. He asked if they were concerned with this, because it's obviously not fair.

If you watch the full clip, the person asking the question is actually just setting up a further question in regards to the hypocritical, and frankly racist, qualifiers of, I think, the Oscars.

For the people accusing the reporter as being a woke activist, pump your breaks there. Yes, at first when seeing the video my blood was already about to boil because we've all seen this song and dance before BUT unfortunately this clip is cut short which removes more context. If you kept hearing, what he is saying it's just pointing out the hypocrisy from SAG and other film and arts bodies that have put out rules about diversity and quotas that movies must meet in order to either get funding from big studios or to be nominated for awards for example the Oscars, Emmys etc. The journalist was just poking fun at how for example movies like South Korean's Parasite is considered a diverse movie even though it's 100% Koreans (Same with Black Panther, The Woman King, Crazy Rich Asians, yadda yadda) yet Anglo or Nordic majority movies are not "diversity" and it equals wrong/bad. Fortunately, Independent film making does not have to play along with such rules to get made. Which is why the current strike in Hollywood is a blessing for all independent types to get out there and do your shit, from podcasting to youtube pop culture reviews, making your own comics etc, now it's the time to strike while these elite whiners are bitching sitting on their asses and studios cancelling projects and running out of monies. The difference between the strikes now and the one in 2008 is that people actually gave a shit about programs being made 15 years ago. Current Hollywood writing is aidz and most everybody has tuned out.

Mads Mikkelsen is legitimately one of the best actors working right now and a cool dude. He's good in everything he is in, even if the movie is otherwise bad. But he's in some all around really great stuff too like The Hunt, Another Round, Valhalla Rising, the first two films in The Pusher trilogy, Casino Royale, Flame & Citron, A Royal Affair, Riders of Justice, At Eternity's Gate, Arctic, and of course the amazing television show Hannibal.
