I should mention I moved to Athens in 2012 and just love this city! Totally underrated by the rest of the world. I mean how many cities can boast, sun, sea, dinner with a view of one of The Seven Wonders of The World, natural lakes, pristine turquoise waters, amazing nightlife[stunning clubs located on sandy beaches], neo-classic buildings [original ones] The Acropolis, beautiful public gardens and so much more. Now I think you understand my passion for my below comment. Athens is the best and to me very beautiful but we can do better! Having moved from London, UK to Athens I wouldn’t move back to London. Two very different cities but my heart now belongs here in Athens and I have discovered quite a fascinating city not something that’s so obvious to tourists or visitors here for a short stay. An insider’s city let’s say. Please get this right and please invite me to a conference or something. I would like to be an Ambassador for the Rethink Athens project [a foreign voice].

I'm waiting Athens! I'm waiting with much anticipation for the creation and renewal of lovely Athens City. Now listen, please listen to me, I’m British and have a good eye for these things…no more of the following:
 
 NO: large signs above shop doors, advertising leaflets all over the place, graffiti, motorbikes parking on the pavements, peripteros in front of gorgeous buildings bringing the entire ambience of the road down, coloured signs/banners on neo-classic buildings [that’s insane that you do this????] ugly wire metal in front of shop windows.
 
Prepare& Restore: the square pillars in front of so many public buildings and replace with attractive facades you know the arch shaped ones, the many neo-classic buildings dotted around the city, plant flowers [in every green space available] paint the ugly concrete buildings with blues, pinks, yellows, better still knock these buildings down and re-build neo-classic buildings.
 
JUST GET IT RIGHT! Athens was once the most beautiful city that would have made even Paris envious but somehow the Greeks destroyed it??? Athens has evolved more than any other city worldwide from beauty to not so great. YES Athens is still beautiful but make it better…do it! Athenians are used to the concrete so don’t notice like we foreigners do GET RIDE OF IT. NOW!!
 
I LOVE Athens and she still has much beauty to her but you can do better! The North and South of Athens along with central Athens remains gorgeous and beautiful but make all of her like that.
 
Happy to come on site to offer my ideas/proposals etc! Just make sure you DON’T use young architects or the same idiot architects who re-designed Monastiraki Square. Please God no! Monastiraki Sqaure looks like a bomb site FIX IT!!
