Heavy Equipment Repair on HUGE Cat 992K Loader Cylinders! | Machining, Welding, Honing

Dive into the world of heavy equipment repair as we breathe new life into two massive Caterpillar 992K Loader lift cylinder barrels. Watch as Kurtis's expert skills and our innovative shop-made tools work together to transform these damaged parts. We start by setting up the first barrel in our Zayer bed mill to machine out the bore of the eye. Then we use our new shop made welding stand to set up the portable Sir Meccanica WS2 machine so we can bore weld the eye. While that's welding, we get the 2nd cylinder barrel set up in our Sunnen HTA-4100 horizontal honing machine and do a quick roughing pass before changing to finishing stones to add the signature cross hatching to restore the inner surface. After the eye has cooled down on the first barrel, we finish machining it to spec using the Wolhaupter boring head before facing and chamfering each side of the eye. Then it's time to change out the hydraulic cylinder barrels and do the process all over again. Another job successfully completed, thanks in part to our growing arsenal of shop-made tools that make these complex repairs more efficient and enjoyable. Join us on this video into the world of heavy equipment repair, where precision engineering and innovative tools combine to bring these industrial giants back to life!

In this video we are using:
- Zayer Bed Mill
- Sir Meccanica WS2 Portable Line borer
- WIA 500i Weldmatic Welder
- Sunnen HTA-4100 Horizontal Hone

Oh man, your line-boring stand makes so much more sense now.... the quick alignment with the pin was so slick!

Very considerate of you guys always adding insert clips of what parts need repairs off what heavy vehicles. It changes the perception of what is repaired. Very informative. Thanks for going that extra bit for us.

Shop made tools for the win... Being able to retain the x and y for the the eye using the welding stand made short work of that part of the reclamation, and a nice bit of multi tasking to be more efficient... Thanks Karen and Kurtis, also not forgetting Homey

I love it when Kurtis says something like "my heavy duty machinist jacks" and opens a box to reveal a tool that 99.999% of the world's population has never even heard of, let alone seen. 😆

Hi, guys! It's great to see the tools you have created and acquired being put to use on your paying jobs. And it gives your customers the luxury of working with a trusted "one-stop shop" they can rely on to quickly service and restore worn hydraulic cylinders and other crucial parts with a quick turnaround. Brilliant.
22:00: I think those are the pigs I sent to Homey a couple of weeks ago. Hope he enjoys!
Have a great weekend guys and see you next week! Cheers.

Hey guys. Had major back surgery last Wednesday. Still on the meds and a little fuzzy headed. When I got home on Monday I was so happy to see a CCE episode waiting to be enjoyed. That made me smile. Thanks, I forgot about the pain while I watched. Cheers! Hope all is well.

Normally I find unboxing videos inane but homeless nailed it right there.
I made bore welder many years ago to eliminate having to set up and break down of the line boring machine. It was essentially similar to your boring bar but had the feed thread cut into the bar itself and ran in bronze bushings and a fixed nut. Threads were left with a large flat at the crest, mitigating wear. A 3mm pitch is optimal for layer buildup. Driving the bar was done via a simple gear train with an idler acting as a clutch which also allowed manual rasing and lowering of the bar using a hand wheel. Wire feed was an old mig welder wire feeder and the spool was also attached to the bar top so everything went around with the bar. This arrangement eliminates the wire flicking caused by the wind up using a fixed spool and rotating contact tip. Cut off wheels make excellent draught excluders simply held up to the bore bottom. They also create a pool of shielding gas in the bore which is good for arc stability. Side benefit was not havng to constantly cut new wire liners.

Always a great hour of my Friday in the U.S., and I’m amazed at just how much work Karen puts in! One hour of editing per minute of video on average is a LOT OF TIME! Bravo Karen!!

Always amazed by how efficiently Kurtis works. Something for us amateurs to learn in every video. That welding stand is a game changer! The whole eye reclamation done in a single mill setup. Wow.

Not sure what I'm most impressed by. Kurtis' knowledge, Karen's filming and editing or that magnificent Green Pallet.😍😍

I look forward to Friday morning here in Pennsylvania as I wake up to CEE. Kurtis, Karen, and Homeless make my day. Karen does an awesome job with videoing and editing the extremely talented work of Kurtis and then watching Homeless is the icing on the cake. Love the channel

I like the honesty of the camera operator being part of the videos. Too many otherwise great sites try to give an illusion they're working doing things nobody could do and keep the camera where it has to be. Great job on everyone's part.

I really enjoy the zoomed out time laps of the second barrel. It gives a good perspective on how much "hurry up and wait" there is. Thank you for another great video!

A thank you for sharing from France. It is great to see all the previous work that you have planned: reorganization of the workshop, repair of the machines, purchase of equipment, creation of tools finds its concrete conclusion today in the repair of these two large Caterpillar cylinders, There is no doubt that your customers will future potentials will appreciate your professionalism. Best regards.
