Kerala Development Model : A Revisit
Kerala is unique in many ways. It stands shoulder to shoulder with developed countries on several social indicators, thanks to the unique development model it pursued. When other states made investments in productive sectors, Kerala focused on social welfare sectors. Though the model transformed our social economy, it weakened our productive sectors. The state also faces a situation of not being able to find enough revenue for development works. The development model is ripe for a review.
