Lol I hate towels so I just air dry and put moisturizer on while I'm still sort of wet. Nice to know I'm doing the right thing!

“Please don’t go into your dermatologist office with a full beat” made me chuckle🤣🤣🤣

I use a separate face and body cloth, that’s how I was raised. When I learned more about skin, I bought dozens of white cloths I change after each use and use only for my face. I use white only because I can bleach them. I pat dry my face with a cloth the nights I have to apply retinol.

Yes it's true bacteria will grow on towels after a few days, it's best not to leave them in the bathroom because of the humidity. If you wash them at 60° that should kill the bacteria but you need to wash them regularly.

I’ve been using the same Clean Skin Club that you use. I buy the XL towels. When I get the box, I clean my scissors and cut them in half. This way they last twice as long. I also use a silicone disc when necessary.
I’m so happy you are talking about hand washing. I am convinced MOST people don’t know HOW to wash their hands nor how long to wash their hands. You should be counting to 35 seconds, wash the inside, the back in between fingers and under your nails. With all the germs going around, I wash my hands twice.

When the pandemic lockdown started last year I started spending more time researching skin care, and through my hits and misses, I now have a pretty well thought out routine (that changes with the seasons, of course) and my skin hasn't looked this good since before puberty (I'm 46 now!). I truly believe that using a new face towel every evening has helped with that. I have far less inflammation outbreaks now, and the occasional blemish goes a way much faster now that I'm doing the right things.

I always air dry, but I appreciate some extra knowledge validating my choice to do so. Thanks Doctor Stephens!

I don’t think it’s such a big problem, since I use a fresh, newly washed towel, that’s just for my face, every day. I don’t believe in single use and disposable products. It’s bad for the environment and such a waste. We’ve just been told not to use cotton rounds but instead buy quite expensive reusable and eco friendly alternatives. And yes, I have several of those and they are getting washed with the towels.
My towels are soft and I also have a bunch of towels in microfiber, both for my face and for my hair. And yes, microfiber is a nice alternative.
I understand that disposable towels are a good thing at a clinic or in a health care facility.

Air drying is literally the most efficient and easy way to dry your face. By the time I reached my room after showering my face is already half dry so i can go straight into my skincare. Never even thought about using a towel my face dries too fast lol

I use a different face towel daily. Baby face towels work great. I like to use Lysol laundry sanitizer when I wash my towels… hopefully, this helps and it’s not just marketing.😊

I haven't used a towel on my face for YEARS! And when I did, I would NEVER use the same towel or wash cloth on my face that I would use on my body and others thought I was crazy...It just always grossed me out!

I have amazing skin and I have always used washcloths. I keep it simple & call it a day. If you have used washcloths in the past and no issues but you have acne issues now, there is more to it besides your washcloth. Good luck.

I use a fresh towel each day. Now I remember why. I wash my towels in hot water. You can add bleach or laundry sanitizer if u don’t think the hot water is enough. White towels work best for this.

I use white soft face cloths just to lightly Pat dry my face after washing it. I typically change the cloth out every other day. I only let my face air dry at night because I’m in “relax” mode and have more time to dedicate to my skincare.

So I use my washcloth for my face for several days but hear me out! I only use it for my face and I keep it outside of the bathroom in a particular hanging place. No one else uses it! I also pat dry for the most part instead of rubbing my skin. My skin has been doing well but I’ll probably change it more often after seeing this but I’m glad I got a few things right!

🤣Hi Dr A,
❤elanie here, ur ULTA fan follower
I ❤ ❤ ❤ that you shared this most vital video, I have been waiting IONS, 4 Even one Pro to share this as I do everyday with all clients and now guests at my job.
Personally, I do use a micro fiber baby wash cloth to pat dry my skin, and I simply keep a roll of good old fashioned white, Paper towel rolls in our bathrooms for hand drying after every handwash. If I should forget or not have a new micro fiber cloth ready, I will pat dry my face with a paper towel.
I stared teaching this to my Esthetic students over 15 yrs now..so glad its now coming from a voice that will be seen, heard and followed. Stay safe stay well, stay as beautiful as you are, and thank you for all the hard work you provide aside from im sure your very busy and full life..much Aloha4u always
❤elanie...yup thats me melanie😍

For years I have used a different towel daily - A clean white face towel separate from my hand and body towel. It just seemed icky to me to use a towel more than once and to use the same towel on my face that touched the other parts of my body.😳 yes I wash towels a lot and I use only white ones so I can bleach them

I use a new face towel and microfiber washcloth every day for my face, blotting only with my face towel. They are kept away from the toilet. I also have a separate hand towel that is changed multiple times a week. I also switch my pillowcase twice a week and wash my bedsheets and blanket every week. I wash them every week with Lysol laundry sanitizer and Persil, and dry on hot. It’s just part of my routine now!

I'm grateful that I have a sink/vanity just outside of my bathroom where I wash my face and brush my teeth, so towels, toothbrush and other things I use near/on my face are out of the humidity and away from the toilet.
I like microfiber to remove makeup/ after oil cleansing or to catch excess water from dripping down my neck (so blotting), but mostly air dry in the evenings before tret and apply skincare to damp skin in the morning.
I definitely miss having my own washer and dryer though, I could own fewer towels, customize the wash cycles and wash them more frequently than now. Having to leave my apartment and pay to wash means they sit in the laundry for longer which I don't love.
