BTW, those who know, KNOW how important and vital THE KINKS were to the initial British Invasion. Their music catalog stands the test of time and they’ve earned their rightful place amongst the best of those early bands and stayed on for many many years.

To me Ray & Dave Davies are two of the most underrated performers from the British Invasion ~ Between Ray's songwriting & Dave's guitar the Kinks are able to make a song fun & still have depth

Thank you for doing the Kinks, please do more.
“You really got me” “All day and all of the Night”, 1964, “Till the end of the Day” 1965. “Sunny Afternoon” 1966,
“Lola” 1970, “Come dancing”, “Living on a thin Line” 1984, many generations love the kinks.

For the Kinks to have been as influential as they were they certainly seem to be one of the most underrated bands of all time

This song is criminally I’ve loved this song for so long; just turn it up in the car and go CRAZY!!!🔥🔥🔥That very first chord is right off Hard Day’s Night yes you got that right. Same chord.

I was painting apartments in La Jolla, Calif., in the 1980s and was in the parking lot loading my stuff when Rayd Davies came walking by and asked for directions to the mall nearby. He was in town for a musical play he had written that was being performed there. My brush with celebrity.

The Kinks' To The Bone double live album was an integral part of my teenage years. Great versions of some of their best songs.

The Kinks were one of the truly great original British Invasion bands. The only reason they aren’t as well-known as Beatles, Stones, Who is they were banned by the American Federation of Musicians for 5 years from playing gigs in the USA during the height of their popularity (1965-69), supposedly for drinking and fighting onstage and maybe elsewhere. They helped invent hard rock (“You Really Got Me”), punk rock (“All Day and All of the Night”, “She’s Got Everything”), wrote social commentary (“Well-Respected Man”, “David Watts”, “Shangri-La”), rejected technology (‘Village Green Preservation Society’), and had gorgeous melodies (“Days”, “Waterloo Sunset”). This is the first song off a very good late album. Great old-style Kinks rocker. Check out Jimmy Page playing with Dave Davies also on guitar on “I Gotta Move”.

Ray Davies was given the title Godfather of Britpop which is the genre you're thinking of that includes Oasis and Blur, who have stated that his music is a big influence. Both Noel Gallagher and Damon Albarn have performed with Ray Davies. The Kinks don't get the recognition they deserve in the press but their musical influence can be heard everywhere in modern music. Kinks-like guitar riffs permeate all forms of popular music. David Bowie said that he never heard a Kinks song he didn't like and Alice Cooper said everything he knows about rock and roll he learned from Ray Davies. The list of major artists who have covered their songs is absolutely mind boggling. Ray was finally knighted for his contribution to music after waiting much too long. God Save the Kinks and Ray Davies.

The Kinks have a very deep catalog, well worth exploring. They made music steadily from the early 60s through the early 90s (and Ray and Dave continued to record and perform solo after that).

They were pretty big here in the states. “Celluloid Heroes” is my favorite Kinks song. They had quite a few hits over here. I love their sound. It seems brothers in bands tend to be trouble, as evidenced by the Fogarty brothers in CCR. Their differences led to the premature (IMHO) dismantling of a fantastic band! 😢🌺✌️

Lots of brilliant songs. Apeman, (Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman, Destroyer, Well Respected Man, Waterloo Sunset, and many, many more.
