As a newbie I chose the Seestar S50. It provides all, really all, astrophotography functions. All for $500. Pedestal, mount, camera, filters, integrated sky maps, auto focus, leveling software, local weather, recomendation viewing, computer controled, auto guiding, wifi interface, limited but there is image processing. When I discovered/found it my first thought was this is it. I was heading down the path. Still learning and having fun.

You make a lot of good points. One point I would make, even stress, whatever your motivation, i.e. visual astronomy or astrophotography, get a scope you can grow into rather than one You will quickly outgrow. To this end, I personally went with a 8 in Schmidt cassagrain. I am now 74 yrs old and haven't outgrown it yet. Clear skies.

Excellent job, as usual, Astrotan. You take some very complex information and make it very easily understandable, even for beginners. You have a real talent for doing that, and you should keep it up. Clear skies, my Friend.

A big point that a lot of people just getting into it may not realize is that the pictures they're seeing are not anything close to what they will see through the telescope. If you buy any telescope thinking you're gonna look into the eyepiece and see the same image as the highly edited and enhanced pictures, you'll be disappointed.

I have the exact same 80mm Meade refractor. Very nice scope.

You NEVER look for ' Magnification ' in a Telescope, that comes with the eye pieces .

Hi. I have a 70/400mm refractor and a 130/650 Newtonian reflector with eq3 manual mount. What should be my recommended addition to this kit for dso astrophotography ( within a suitable price point)

Can I transform a celestron evolution 8 default altazimuth mount into a eq mount with a wedge? Will it work properly?

I'm 100% new to this hobby and desperately want to see the rings on saturn and a spiral galaxy. It's so hard doing research because every "top 10 telescopes for beginners" list is nothing but referral links and sponsorships in disguise, so it's not at all unbiased. After doing the best I could, I decided to purchase a NEXSTAR 130 slt for my first telescope, which hasn't arrived yet. Any thoughts or recommendations would be GREATLY appreciated. I've reached out to so many people for guidance but received nothing but the sounds of crickets.

I want the best possible telescope (imaging wise) to travel with my scooter. What do you recommend?

So what happens when you put 2 telescope together, would you get telescope A maification + telescope B maification, Or is there some weird physics law that prevents that?
