Your electric range is how far you can go on a given charge. This applies to plug-in hybrid and full electric cars. Just like a gas-powered cars, all electrified cars receive an electric range rating from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This range rating tells you how far you can go between charging, in optimal conditions. In this video, you will learn about the different factors and driving conditions that could affect your car’s total electric range.

I own a 2023 XC60 Recharge. I was told by the head mechanic at my dealership to try to lower the battery to 25% or less charge before plugging it to recharge… in order to maximize battery life and usable range. He spoke of using the AC to deplete the battery when parked at home, before charging. I called Volvo from my car and they were not able to help on this. They said the A/C can’t be working if you aren’t in the car. Anybody can help with this? If at 7pm my car has 40% battery left… seems like I should not be charging it… but is there a simple way to bring the battery down to 25% other than driving around the block?
