Is it okay to give medicare number to someone ?

Thanks. I just got enrolled and this got me my medicare number rather than wait for the medicare card to come in the snail mail.

Should I protect my medicare number like I would my SSN? I've printed the letter but am unsure about saving an electronic copy on dropbox or google docs.

My mother has dementia and has lost her cards. My dad shouldn't have let her have them in the first place but she's obsessed with her wallet and what she calls a pocketbook. I can't get any of this, none of it, not to save my life. When I go to social security and want to mail the information and when I go to Medicare it's the same thing. I can open up a social security account or Medicare account but nobody is giving me that information. They have to send codes to the house, they won't text or email them. So none of this information is accurate or helpful. And no, it's not that I'm not computer savvy, I actually am. This is completely locked up and we can't get the info. I am getting medical records from the doctor which of course takes days and they should have a copy of front and back of the cards. And I did get some of the information from the pharmacist but I can't even go and bring her for blood test because I have to have a copy or a printout of the card. It's completely useless than in 2024. I have no access to this information. It's despicable because if there's an emergency, or even if I have to get the blood test in an emergency, I can't.
