I had to listen to that three times before I got his most pertinent point.
“Without limitations we dissolve into the boundless.”

Limitations focus our thoughts not on what you can't do, but what all can be done with those limitations.

Actually, the Infinite is always there, whether we perceive it or not. Limits enables our human minds to begin to comprehend reality of Its existence.

Hes right about chess.. the possible moves goes up and up every move you make. Something like 1 trillion possible moves by your 4th move. Its crazy.

Without those limitations, the game of chess would be "unplayable".

Had it only recently explained that with a set of 52 cards, the chances are that no two identical deals had been made where all cards are dealt, with 52! variations possible

And if you can't win, just upset the whole board.

This is part of the reason why a limitless God would create the limited; the only "thing" that He was without.

You actually have to learn this if you intend on worldbuilding for a book, RPG, etc. Limits provide structure.

this is rly inspiring if you see life as a kind of game;

Actually it makes sense. Think of it this way. In order to be free u must address your limitations. In order to become intelligent u must acknowledge that uninformed and well rather stupid. Etc etc

If you expanded the rules of chess you would have even more possible chess games. The limits dont extend the limits as the caption says, the reduce them.

A chess game started and ends with some one winning. Or feel they are happy enough to walk. Games have rules. Rule are limited

I wanna tell a story. So, when I was Younger I would cheat at school chess, it was easy cause all I had do was make the other student look the other way, get them to talk to me, an I knew they wouldn't remember the board an so i'd incrementally change were the peices where on the board. Until, I played with someone who didn't know how to play. Like I think I got cought by the teacher finally, cause she was standing watching this dude moved Diaganal with a pawn without a peice being there, jumped his queen over one of his pawns, took the pawn infront of my king and won the game.

We cannot grow without something to challenge us.

Chess is simple because the rules are clear and there are winners or losers. The rules of life are complex and ever changing with no clear path to success. Most of us find ourselves somewhere in the middle and just trying to find meaning or purpose in the rat race.

It's just a game.the game is the limitation

I see that he is making a slightly different point but there's nothing close to infinite about the number of potential chess games. Infinity arises in continuous realms, while chess is a discrete one.
