The reason I subbed to this channel many moons ago is because you gave people on a tight budget a realistic idea of what they need for a decent gaming rig, and you still do. Something that I've yet to find on another channel. Kudos to you sir ...

if i'm not wrong this is the very first video on youtube I've seen about the i3-13100f processor. good job

4 Cores, 8 Threads, Boost up to 4, 5 Ghz. This is entry level today. Just imagine - a few years back, exactly this was top of the notch. My i7 7700K is literally the same specs, only that it is 14nm and not 10nm.

Nice, that's pretty solid performance there, it's remarkable to see how the i3's have evolved over the years. A few years ago, the i3's with 2 cores and 4 threads would never have performed anywhere near like this level. Even older i7 CPU's with 4 cores and 8 threads were nowhere near this level of performance.
I look forward to your 13400F video in the future, as I remember that you praised the 12th gen i3's and i5's regarding their performance. I would use one of these CPU's myself if budget was a limiting factor (but I'm going to use the i9-13900K when I build a PC).

I've had an i3 12100f for about 6 months now, after my old i5 3470 system died. I'm impressed so far. The motherboard will also allow the 13th gen too, which I'm pleased about

Bought my 10100f 2 years ago now and still loving the performance with my GTX 1660. Bought all of the setup for 280 usd.

The reason why you are seeing slightly higher performance on 13100 is that it boosts to 4.5ghz Vs 4.4ghz in the 12300. As stated below it's exactly same CPU as 12th gen, so intel could have called it 12350. But they called it 13100 to capitalise on the launch of proper 13th gen parts. The general public needs to be more educated on this fact.

It's good they changed stock cooler design all those years. That's the best thing i saw in 12th, so good that i would use stock instead of AIO. 😅

Great video like always. You should do the same video but with the arc GPUs to see if there is any improvement

The 13500 is the one that looks the most intriguing to me. It has the same p/e cores as the 13600k and the same amount of cache just with slightly lower clocks.

I have the 12100F and it's really good for a CPU that cost me 110-ish£ and I made a good budget build out of it. Great vid!

Edit: If anyone is interested what's my build it's this:
i3 12100F
16 GB 3200 MHz T-Force Vulcan Z RAM
GTX 1050 Ti (I will replace it for a Intel GPU when I get a chance)
120 GB SSD (with 2 external drives for games)
Thermaltake V200 TG RGB
and a 700w PSU I had lying around
Edit 2: My mobo is a ASRock B660 Pro RS (I forgot to include in the list)

Given how far things have evolved for these i3 CPUS, it would be very interesting to see how they compare to the last of the quad core i7 cpus from back in the day, perhaps compare it to the i7 6700 from that old dell that you looked at recently.

I subbed to your channel years ago because of how chill and wonderful your videos are and I am very happy to see how far you have evolved and how much higher quality your content has gotten over the years! Most tech tubers focus on the ultra high end of the market, looking at the halo products that most people can’t even dream of affording. While it is important to have coverage of that part of the market, it is also very important for people like yourself to cover the more value focused part of the market and prove time and time again that you can have an excellent gaming experience on budget hardware, especially these days.

Here’s to more fantastic content in 2023!

edit: also pentiums and celeron s are officially gone, replaced with the “intel processor” branding.

I'm one of those with a 12100F and a 3060 Ti.
Well I built my 12100F system in 2022 February and kept my GTX 1070 at the time and only managed to upgrade to a second hand 3060 Ti in 2022 September.
For me this pairing is about right since I play on a 2560x1080 Ultrawide monitor tho only 75 Hz/FPS capped at the refresh rate.
I don't play competitive games at all and in singleplayer games I just crank the settings up and this way I'm still most of the time GPU limited at 95-99% usage, currently playing Cyberpunk with the Digital Foundry's tweaked settings + RT Reflections/Lights on Ultra with DLSS Quality between 50-60 fps on average which is enough for me in singleplayer games.

At some point I might upgrade to a 13400F but for now I have no need for it to be honest as it runs everything I'm playing or planning to play/backlog games.

I'm actually really interested in the 13500, 14 cores 20 threads for a fairly low price

$109 for this is an incredible deal. can't wait to see a 13400f 6 core for $200!

I got an i3 12100f and an RX 6600. To everyone who is struggling with the decision: It's worth it! And dont get tricked by the high utilitsation, the backround tasks like discord work just fine :)

Would've preferred if you'd compared the 12th and 13th gen game by game instead of just at the end. I know it's more work but it makes the comparison clearer. Thanks, and great video!

I'd be great to compare them to the last 4 core flagship i7 7700k or the last Ryzen 4 core.. don't even remember what that was. It'd be interesting nonetheless!!

It could be possible to get 60fps at 1440p on those games with that setup, you should test that against the 12300 and the nearest competitive Ryzen CPU.
