In this episode of In The Kitchen With Matt, I will show you how to eat the yellow Dragon Fruit, or Pitahaya, Pitaya amarilla, Hylocereus megalanthus, and also do a taste test. Have you ever wondered what the yellow dragon fruit tastes like? Well, you have come to the right place, well at least what it tastes like to me. Taste is definitely subjective. I personally like the taste of the yellow dragonfruit more than the pink/red dragon fruit, but I like the look of the pink one better. Let's get started!

Where does the dragon fruit come from?

The Pitaya or Pitahaya (Dragon Fruit) is native to several countries in the Americas. But it is cultivated all over the world in tropical and subtropical regions like Southeast Asia, India, United States, Caribbean, Australia, etc.

I just had my first yellow dragon fruit, I’m am hooked. I ate it like the golden kiwi. Cut it in half and used a spoon to scoop it out. So sweet. Definitely plan to get more.

I am from Ecuador and I love Pitahaya! But make sure you eat half or less at a time. It sends you straight to the bathroom 😑😑 glad you liked them!!

My generous neighbour and friend❤️ introduced me to these unbelievably incredible tasting fruit. I also eat them with a teaspoon, just delicious! I have eaten the pink dragon fruit before, but definitely prefer the yellow skinned variety. INCREDIBLE TASTING FRUIT!❤️

I just tried it for the first time and it’s not bad at all. I watched this video to learn how to eat it but it was also educational as well. 👍🏽

Yum! I’ve been eyeing these at my local grocery store since they’re kind of pricey. A little over $5 a lb. I bought some today and just devoured one! So good! 🤤

£7.50 for three of these at Costco is costly, however they have to be imported from a long way again so it makes sense that they're this expensive.

They are delicious.

Delicious! They would be my favorite fruit by a long shot, but the seeds are annoying (albeit, they’re easier to chew than sunflower seeds).
