Meta Modelling Approach to Fast Multi-Scale Cancer Simulation

Показать описание
In cancer research, mathematical models are used to simulate and help understand tumour growth and progression. Most models are focused on a single spatial scale, e.g. molecules, cells, cell population or tissue. Combining models from several scales (multi-scale modelling) provides more comprehensive information of tumour behaviour; yet it is often infeasible due to very long computation time. This project will explore a meta-modelling approach to reduce computational complexity of multi-scale models. A fast-running empirical "meta-model" will be developed to emulate the underlying complex model. This approach will break the computational bottleneck that hampers practical application of multi-scale cancer modelling.
