I'm Team Ika here.
While I would not have needed the toilet replaced, Dem did go back on a promise.
I'm sure Dem has every intention to build you the dream house he is describing Ika. But your concerns are very valid. So much can go wrong during the tedious process of demolishing and rebuilding. It's such a long and unpredictable process. I'd be skeptical as well.
Whatever you guys decide, I'm sure you'll find ways to make it work.
