In India, coffee is usually prepared either as the south Indian Filter coffee or instant coffee. Today let's broaden our knowledge about the Filter coffee or commonly known as Filter Kaapi.
Did you know how filter coffee is made?
Traditionally, Indian filter coffee is made with Plantation A washed arabica or Peaberry coffee beans. The beans are dark roasted, ground, and blended with chicory, with the coffee constituting 80-90% and the chicory 10-20% of the mixture. The chicory's slight bitterness contributes to the flavor of Indian filter coffee.
Even in today’s busy world, coffee lovers in south India have the traditional filter kapi as their first cup of coffee for the day. Filter kaapi and south Indians are truly inseparable.
