Heat Transfer - Conduction, Convection, and Radiation

Показать описание
This physics video tutorial provides a basic introduction into heat transfer. It explains the difference between conduction, convection, and radiation. Conduction occurs when heat transfers from one material to another by direct contact. Touching a hot stove is an example of heat conduction. Heat flows from a region of high temperature to a region of low temperature or from hot to cold. Materials such as metals and diamond conduct heat very well. Wood and fiberglass do not conduct heat very well and are called insulators. still air is an insulator. Convection occurs when heat is transferred through a fluid in motion such as moving water or a wind. Hot air rises and cold air descends due to difference in density. Cold air is heavier than hot air. The last method of heat transfer is radiation. Heat from the sun travels through empty space by means of electromagnetic waves such as infrared, UV light, and visible light.
