I think this might be one of the most important videos you've put out recently TE. We have just seen the hint of increased margins from these LFP batteries in Q3/4 '21. Going forward, a much larger percentage of Tesla vehicles will benefit from these cost reductions. All eyes are on the 4680 while it seems like everyone is missing the cost benefits from CATL's LFP batteries.

Tesla is having so many things come together all at the same time. Batteries and battery supplies are looking better than they ever have and are finally not the most limiting factor. Meanwhile Berlin and Austin factories are finally coming on line . That's going to allow vehicle production to finally grow at a much greater rate and more batteries also will help the energy storage division get more batteries as well. Combine more batteries and the new plants to product mega packs and power walls and we see energy taking off. That's where some of the best profits and sustained income will come from so it's a major thing. Anyway you put look at it this will be one wild and empowering year for Tesla.

TE, the crazy increase in savings that Tesla is coming into with each model Y is almost scary... almost. I wouldn't want to be on the other side trying to scale while having all of those built in costs weighing me down with my ICE that I need to then divert into the EV's that I loose money on with each one I sell as my ICE sales also begin to decline.

It is even scarier when you add that your competition has an army of fans, a charismatic CEO and a "cult" following of a product that makes people convert after experiencing it.

CATL being "in bed" with TSLA will be a very good match for the two and they would have a long and potentially very happy and profitable life together considering the scale we need to transition the WORLD to electric transportation.

Here's something I am still thinking even more after this video. Tesla is going to make batteries for their use outside of China and without a partner (Japan and China). They have learned so much, so what exactly are they cooking up at Kato Rd and how much better/cheaper will it be when they are producing them at Austin and (hopefully) Berlin? Tesla even working with CATL isn't going to give away their breakthroughs and while helping CATL get faster and better at making a battery that meets their needs makes sense it doesn't have to go beyond that for it be amazing for the two.

So many other legacy makers are depending on the more expensive nickel based batteries which keep going up in cost now (due to world events) and they don't seem to have gone the route of making sure everyone who can make a battery has a contract with them, like Tesla did.

I think there is going to have to be a triage setup during earnings calls when the implications of not having things like this figured out comes through the numbers of legacy earning reports. They might need to start calling them life reports because these changes are happening faster and with more impact than ever before.

The market isn't looking out for this so once again they are going to be caught off guard.

I bought an LFP starter battery for a motorcycle. The obvious question - why was LFP not going into cars? Patents of course. But that legal crimp has now expired so we are looking at LFP as the primary power source for cars (and maybe even trucks).

Unfortunately you can NOT just replace an NMC battery with LFP... LFP can not handle the same Energy Density, and thus adds a lot of weight. So you either have to address adding more weight for the same energy, or you have a shorter driving range.

LFP is not just the cheapest, it can be ar 0 or 100 percent SOC with less degradation.
