Wow IOS has changed so much, visited there in 1982 whilst island hopping around the islands fantasic then, so chilled but still had the night life in the village area and only one bus on the island and only a few bars around Mylopotas beach,

I was there about 15 years ago. I agree it has it's own special vibe. You didn't mention the island's nickname which is "Little Ireland". This is due to the many Irish bars there.

Consider also that the high season in Greece is from beginning of July till the middle of August! For this reason Ios might appeared empty to you. Moreover Party people sleep during the day and the Chora is full after 00:00 !;)
