I dared my 1st year apprentice to prove his aldi voltage test screwdriver on a 1000v ac circuit. He is still with us, it lit up and he said he may have felt a minute tingle from it but it was hard to tell. So I guess thats a pass

I call cheap tools ‘beaters’ they deffo serve a purpose as we all need tools to open tins with, pry things with that it doesn’t matter if they break or bend. Ok for household type stuff, I’d never pull them out at work on a job but they’re worth buying at that price for sure!

Like you said always buy what you can afford. Cheap set for apprentices is ok to start off with to get to using tools. But there’s apprenticeship loans and most places will have sales with apprentice deals and discounts

I’d go the needle nose for switchboard work because they’re cheap and won’t get used that often.. but the crescent ones are cheap and 1000v aswell

Love these screwdrivers. I like them more than my Milwaukee set. Only problem is the flat blades gets bent up and then you cant use them to fit off anymore

Definitely not a bad price and even comes with a lunch box. Haha

what's your beef with the test pen? I've had a cheap Aldi socket set in the van for 7 years and only just bought a better set recently. Saved me so many times during and after my apprenticeship

Hi great content!! Which are your favorite crosscut pliers? And do you recommend an apprentice starts off with traditional linesman pliers or is it ok to start off with crosscuts?

I use both the standard Marvel pliars and the Marvel cross cuts. Can get them Japanese made from AWM. Much difference between the wattmaster and the marvel?

Hey bro, do you think you can do a IR test on it to see if its actually rated to what they say

Dunno why people get so anal about someone using cheaper priced tools at work, yes fancy wiha screwdrivers feel better and are built better, but for everyday use of a screwdriver, I always go for the cheap insulated sets from Bunnings etc as they’re always going missing anyway.

Someone should test the Mark of the beast 'CE' Chinese Export Insulated 1000V rating VS a reputable brand Insulated 1000V ratings. Like see if they are actually life saving or not

It isn't that bad to have these pliers; better to have extra ones just in case.
