9:02 An interesting error here. The narrator indicates that Orcas have recently been caught hunting in packs.

I was sure that I watched a nature show years ago that showed Orcas hunting in their “Pods” (occasionally called Packs, which suggest a loosely formed group with no real family associations like Pods are), by herding seals.

So before saying anything I decided to double check. Sure enough it is quite common and commonly known for a long time that they hunt in groups called “Pods”. A Pod is essentially their family unit.

How long is a long time? Well ANCIENT mariners reported exactly that fact about the Orcas hunting habits.

So hunting in “Packs” is not a newly discovered, recently discovered, or just now understood habit…that is unless you consider knowledge thousands of years old recent or not.
