In this video of Sons of The Forest, I cover update 15 which is the final update for early access of the game. This update includes the new enemy Elise, weapon holders, firewood holder, new Kelvin commands, priest outfit, lamp and more.

00:00 - Introduction
00:16 - Sons Of The Forest v1.0 will release February 22, 2024 after 1 year in Early Access
00:35 - Shawn Ashmore has joined the cast and will be voicing Timmy as we expand his role in the game and story
01:02 - v1.0 - Story updates, new features and polish, will also include the final ??? piece
01:22 - Kelvin has 3 new commands; repair structures, sharpen defensive walls and maintain base
01:34 - Kelvin maintains your base - he will fill all holders to capacity, complete any in progress structures, repair damage and sharpen placed defensive walls

02:57 - Added free standing and wall weapon holders

09:05 - Added new findable blueprint to world – Standing Lamp
09:35 - New findable outfit added to world – Priest outfit
10:03 - Torches, birdhouses, trophy heads and weapon holders can now be attached directly to trees
10:23 - Added a basic noodle soup recipe and added buffs to some recipes that were lackluster
10:58 - Gore clock now always places vertically
11:29 - Added 1.5 second delay to player trigger to all traps after re-arm, except for spring traps
12:15 - RAGE! Set slope walk limit lower for the player on terrain so you can no longer walk directly up steep mountains
13:31 - Shotgun will now properly load a single round if the reloading action was cancelled by the player
13:52 - Fix for cycling the ammo in the shotgun. Now when the ammo is cycled, the player gets the remaining ammo back currently in the weapon and then is forced to reload the weapon with the new ammo
14:07 - Fixed issues with the log sled allowing the player to place both item types in the side racks once the LODs have been toggled or the game has been loaded from a save
14:32 - Ambient cracking ice sound added to ice caves
14:48 - Added gore audio to Grind Trap
15:28 - RAGE! Structure ghosts will now always start oriented to the player rather than being oriented to default world space axis
16:50 - Suppressed the players idle animation when the grab bag is open so that interacting with items on the gab is easier
17:17 - Added more animal zones for increased coverage of the island
17:40 - Fixed some duck behaviors not working properly
17:50 - Rope bridge fixes, changes & additions
18:22 - Rest of the patchnotes, mentionables, & concluding thoughts

-There's been 6 hotfixes tho. Notable one are food buff(eat 4 times rather 8 times a day in HardSurvival), armor buff(don't really use it so idk) and some seasonal bug thing. Before the hotfixes my Kelvin was bugged, he can't do anything just stuck.
-The trap thing, I think your save have disable player trigger on because in HardSurvival player can trigger traps by default. (Can be change via consolecommand)
And that was the armsy who keeps triggering so no delay or what so ever.(not the player triggering it). It's pretty long delay tho
So if you want to make some death walkway you just need a way to rearm from outside or use gates to block off larger traps(hokeypokey etc) Or just use Kelvin. Imo player triggering traps is very needed in harder modes because traps are way too OP atm.
-Slope, for that mountain I use glider to get up there place one side and slide down to put down the other side, go back up via zipline to get glider.(Logs go after zipline are set) Have to build a fair bit up to make that 150m tho. But the animation lock slide does really pisses you off.
-Orienting thing, press shift when building new things does help. But yes other than that lmao. It was already good dk why they changed it this way.
There's so many thing but it still feels empty indeed.

The game definitely does feel a bit empty. Really hoping theyve got a lot coming for 1.0 but really not expecting much.
Theres still a lot of things that i was looking forward too and really hoping wed get, honestly id like 1 more kinda improvement update, add some more settings, add a way to get water in winter from ponds, possibly add the climbing axe just for vertical movement, improve more bugs and stability since i still do tend to see loads while playing.
Just generally qol things that the game needs to not just feel annoying sometimes

Can't wait to see the game in full release, they're likely going to fill the map up and make the story even deeper.

I feel the same way about the blueprints and the gore. I get the theme but when I get into games I like to get immersed into my playthrough. I would not make limb structures just because I was stranded on an island. Nor would I eat another human if there were plenty of options to get food else where. I think they should definitely do an alternate structure approach.

Up to now I had 6 hotfixes on the game. One the day after the update and another one the next day.
Most significant to me was the change that I only need 2 sips of water to be from empty to full (same with food). And the berries now do something noticeable.
Thanks for the video, I hope not too much got brkoen while moving house.

simple fixes endnight!
make Shift a keybind during building with blueprints to snap the rotation to the nearest 90 degrees relative to the world (so we can get the sweet sweet precision)
and
make a different, non discoverable version of the clock and lamp/other gore props made with 3d printed stuff/sticks so we at least have the option!!!

0:53 Not many roles but the roles he got lately were really good. He was awesome in Quantum Break as the protagonist, I saw him in Alan Wake 2 as a sheriff and He was also in Man of Medan. On his Wiki I see he was in some X-Men game in 2006, haha, that one probably wasn't so good.

His performance will really be good for sure.

We duped our weapons for our new buddy that joined. Saved like 4 hours running and getting everything. So it actually was a blessing. Then we built a COD arena and did pvp. Death match in the dark is crazy fun.

As someone guiding two other people through the game... the change to the incline you can walk on annoyed me. Sure we had fun taking our golf carts instead but we absolutely loved the shortcut... especially when you could sled down the other side. Tried even climbing around the edges of the mountain on slopes I feel were definitely within human capabilities... and couldn't do it. I volunteer for paleontology digs (dinosaur digs) in the summer... we climb slopes of up to 60 degrees. I would argue the slopes in the game we used to be able to climb were at least similar to that. I hope if they keep the change, they at least give us an ability to get up the mountain that isn't slow... even maybe an actual stairway to the top that leads to an item or lore pickup would be enough to make me happy.

You can use the golf cart as an of road car, I used it to climb the top of the mountain

I have been testing Kelvin’s “maintain base” and for me, he did refill my holders, mostly log rock and stick.

As an ignorant American, I can never tell the difference between an Aussie and a Kiwi accent.

That said, your voice is amazing. It's a combination of deep and gravelly with that Oz/Kiwi accent that I've never heard before. I'm mildly jealous.

about the trap re-arming, probably you couldn't test it properly because you had "player can trigger traps" option turned off (the one you choose during world creation)

From what I've seen, the trap delay is actually working, it just makes it so that for 1.5 seconds after triggering it, you can't reset it. Might be meant for some of the traps with a longer effect, so that you can't rearm them while they're still active.

Thanks mate I've been checking back every 2 months if SOTF is worth buying yet. It's on sale before full release now but for me I'm hoping another half a year or so will see improvements enough to make it feel like a full experience.

That leg lamp might be a nod to the classic holiday move "A Christmas Story". If you haven't seen it check it out. That might make some sense of the leg lamp. Not sure though, just a guess.
