Me too! My dog knew to apply those rules regardless, he still had the doubters tell me he wasn't trained properly and he has to go back to the trainer. He did more then I could have imagined, he was a wonderful assistance dog, ɓut without giving him the çhoice, I doubt he would have chosen to do what he did for us.

And dogs are intelligent enough to know when they're "working" and when they're not. People don't work all the time. Dogs shouldn't be expected too, either. Dogs need to be dogs. And you're right--expecting a perfect heel at all times is for the human's ego.

Same! Although, occasionally my husband will help get her out of the car or something and forget and put her on her harness and it always throws me, lol.
