Hey Dalton, great you got your water lines replaced, cozy sleeves will be needed soon as Winter arrives. I'm with you on the cutting tool upgrade for a few bucks more, straight cuts can be important. Looking forward to your next update. PS: Careful with the jumping/shock to your knees, joint replacement is no fun.

Still watching in amazement that you've been able to fix a problem and keep your cool (at least on camera). Keep up the good work. I would like to add that if you do get a garbage disposal, be sure to get one made for septic tanks if you're on one.

the old Butyl material is a 20 year plumbing material... and it's 30+ years old.

Good choice to redo all of the water lines.

Pex is pretty easy, but it's also a 20 year water system.

I'm doing Pex, knowing I'll likely have to go into the walls in 20 years. But I'm also making sure everything is not excessively obnoxious to get at. None buried in/under the slab. I had a 2 inch section of PVC put in to pull the Pex from outside, through the slab, so it's easy to service.

Good work, Dalton! When I bought my 1985 mobile home, it had broken PVC and CPVC. I replaced it all with PEX and used the AC / Heat duct to run it under the house. I never had a freeze problem with it. Also, the furnace was removed. I use a propane space heater and window AC. I purchased a small crimp tool that works with a vise grip for crimp rings, and it only cost $18.

Dalton good call to just go for it and change out all the hot and cold lines. Good for resale also. 👍👍

good to see youre back to the grind, we bought our homes around the same time i got mine in march of this year. So far ive drywalled the kitchen, living room, and 2 of the bedrooms, i completely rewired the electrical and ran all pex A. I love pex, the pex a is the expansion type fittings and i kick myself for not forking over the 400 bucks for the electric tool it was a total nightmare using the manual expansion tool in my 1' crawl space.
Im on my 2 weeks vacation now and im wrapping up getting the kitchen floor reframed, my house was built in the 60's and they used 2x6 joists with 2' spacing, really under built so i added new ones so it will be rock solid and not bouncy like it was before. There was a lot of water damage to several joists from the air handler condensate line dripping for years and years just wicking into the joists and subfloor.

Its hard for me to make myself work on the house after work so i usually just work on the weekends but for the first few months of ownership i was burning myself out.

With pex there are two types Pex A and Pex B make sure you are using the right fitting for they type of pex you have because they are interchangeable but will break over time if you use the wrong ones.

Well done Dalton another skill added to your repertoire 👏👏 As a Dewalt fan you know the importance of quality tools. The tools you buy now will last a lifetime of home Reno so you know you would get your 10$ back from buying the better tool for the job. Excellent progress, you are a star!❤❤👏👏

You are doing an amazing job. Learning new things and just tackling it. All the while without losing your temper, or throwing things, etc. like alot of young men would be doing. Very admirable. You'll be glad you changed the water lines. Look forward to seeing the progress.

For sure you can do it on your own--and having a plumber do a look over after is great. PEX B I assume? I've never done it but only seen it on Youtube. Replacing faucets is a no brainer.

I worked at an Apt complex in Raleigh N.C. in the mid 90's all 256 apt's had poly butalyne (spelling is off) piping though out and I had to change it ALL out, it sucked my friend! but when it was over we all felt a lot better, no more bursted lines in the middle of the night! our parent company was one of the lawsuits filed against the company!

Hey you did a great job don't worry about the color of the pipe there is no performance difference between the colors it only indicates the difference between hot and cold future reference they sell it in white that's what I carry on my truck and that way you only need one roll.
