Incredible how everybody has different experiences. I've used a safety razor in the last 6 months, I've tried different blades, different shaving creams and everything and still prefer cartidge. I get a smoother and way faster shave with no irritation at all while with a SR I need to multiple passes to get a smooth shave and always end up with some kind of irritation

Any razor that has more then 3 blades then ill have terrible razor bumps. Safety razor is something you really have to master and perfect it.

I have been using a safety razor on my face for years and only started shaving my head yesterday.. so I just used the safety razor I have. Today I used conditioner instead of the Mitchell's Wool Fat and got a much better shave .. I am using an antique Gillette can't remember the model but it's from early 60s

And if your using a safety razor FFS DONT PUSH HARD. Let the weight of the razor do the job no hard that that.

Everyone's head is shaped and the contours are different. I've been using the Gillette Sensor Excel for over 20 years to shave my head bald. Plus I don't use shaving cream. I use hair conditioner. The slicker it is, the more it glides across your head. Just make sure your hands aren't slippery or the razor handle can slide and causing a nick on your head.

I tried 5 and 2 edges razers, so my general conclusion is that 3 edges razer is the best of all ! I use only "Gillette Blue 3" since years and it is the best for me of all 5 edges crap razors which I have tried (also it's not too expensive).

When I first started razor shaving my head, I cut myself many times. One day I picked up my wife's Venus razor, and loved it, and never looked back. That's what I use now, and no more blood letting.

Whenever I am in Bali, I buy the same Gillette Twin blade razors ( identical packaging) as in Australia, except the ones in Bali are made in Indonesia, and the big difference is that the blades don't stick out as far as the ones in Australia. So I don't get the close shave that I do in Australia. I hated using them, but now I'm starting to think they are better, as they leave your head feeling only a bit stubbly, like fine sandpaper, and I'm starting to prefer that.

the OmniShaver is THE way to go! I got mine a week ago and can get a full head shave in about 2-3 minutes. Perfectly smooth, self cleaning, self sharpening. No nicks, cuts, or razor burn. It is brilliant!

Happy to hear you’re giving the safety razor a good try. Definitely experience makes a difference. After nearly a year using one, I go fast and seldom cut myself. Will be interesting to see what you think after a month. As mentioned before, I’m a big fan of a safety razor and the smooth shave it provides. Wouldn’t trade it. Happy shaving!

Same situation for me... I'm being bald since May 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic, and and I thought that the best thing to be bald was a classic double-edged razor, I bought a Qshave and to shave my face it works well, I lack a little more technique but it is fine. But, but, but to shave my head with the QShave is totally different, firstly it is very uncomfortable, then I cut myself sometimes, and boy does a lot of blood come out of my head, it looks like a carnage when I cut myself.

Days ago I tried a simple disposable cartridge razor and I hate to admit it, the shave was far superior to the QShave razor. I can't believe that a cheap disposable razor is far superior to a classic razor for shaving the head, but it was.

I don't want to go back to disposable cartridges, I feel like I'm backing down in my technique, it would also be very expensive for me, and I've always liked the classic shaving ritual. But there are times when you don't have much time and you have to do everything faster and there you can't do so much ritual.

Having to shave your head with a disposable cartridge and your face with a classic razor makes no sense. I hope to find the final solution: a perfect head and face shave, cheap and fast ... will there be a real solution or something like that? thanks and regards

I used a Mach 3 for about 10 years and loved it but hated how expensive it was. My brother bought me a safety razor and 100 blades for Christmas one year and I absolutely love it. It takes a bit more care and time to develop your technique but the quality of shave is unrivalled. With the mach 3, I used to shave every second day but with the Edwin Jagger safety razor and a Gillette silver blue blade, I get a much closer shave and it looks great even into that third day if I feel like giving myself an extra day between shaves. I’ve tried feather blades before and they’re also great but frighteningly sharp and they take a bit more care and respect to use neatly and safely. Still, the investment in a safety razor is great. If you spend £30 on a razor then buy yourself a load of blades, (varying prices but still considerably cheaper than cartridges) you’ll not have to worry about how often you enjoy a shave and the expense involved. Definitely the best switch up in my personal care routine

Thank you do much for this video. I ordered my first safety razer yesterday. My brother works for shaver shop and he gave me some shaving cream and a silvertip brush a while ago but had no understanding or need for it when I wasn't shaving seriously.

I have used 5 bladed razers for ages and my head is always irritated after a shave and I get red dots. Hopefully my first safety razer shave tomorrow won't hack me up.

I started with the 5 bladed razors. I shaved my beard and my head, so i went through the entire razor lube strip in one shave. Unfortunately, every hair it cut, was cut under the skin, leading to an entire head full of ingrown hairs.

Also, yes, my multi blade clogged like crazy. Finally broke down and tried a DE, and did not look back.

I kind of stayed of wet shaving my head because I tried so many things for my face, but always had ingrown hear in my neck (also with DE razors). So i just kept a stubble beard to avoid it. However, out of frustration with my philips oneblade that get dull so fast, i grabbed my DE razor and shaved my head. It felt so good and no irritation, ingrown hair etc. Only cut one little bumb. I now use my DE razor wirth great pleasure (no cuts thus far) and use the one blade for the little bumb on my head. Probably because my hair on my head is quite different than beard hair. My beard hair is like metal wire...small pieces can easily become a splinter.

The beard looks dope. I like to be clean shaven but you really rock that beard! I use a straight razor btw

Hello! I prefer headblade moto hb6! Safety razor no. With headblade moto bbs 14 hours, and Gillette fusion proglide, and proshield 12 hours! For me the winner is headblade moto 6 blades! Dorco pace 10 hours bbs!

As a barber as well as a guy who shaves his head all the time i get this question a lot. My response is always that to use what you feel comfortable with. In the shop i shave heads with a straight edge. At home i use a halftime razor. It does a awesome job!. I found using a cartridge razor did not work for me because my hands tend to get slippery. Double edge works great but you have to know what your doing or you are going to slice up your head. I also use a foil shaver at the shop and keep one at home for touch ups. But i do have to say. Men, if your shaving your head treat yourself once in a while and hit the barbershop. We will not only shave your head but provide a scalp massage!!!

I know its been a while since you posted this video. I hope this info helps. I keep my head shaved, (pay no mind to the profile pic, it's old). I have found that when your hair gets a little long, say you haven't shaved in a few days, then the safety razor is your best friend. Use it as a prep tool. A quick once over before you use your regular razor. The "Gillette Mach 3 Sensitive" is the closest blade that I have found. I can actually use it without soap or cream. Just wet my head and go. However, if you are going to use a safety razor you need to invest in a good shave soap. Shaving cream or gel is not the same and it will not provide the same results. You would literally be better off just lathering your head or face with dial. Using a high quality shave soap makes all of the difference in the world. There is a reason that people who use safety razors use shave soap. Also I use shave soap with my Gilette. Invest in a nice quality horse hair brush. Believe it or not the second most important thing is the blade. "Astra Superior Platinum" blades are the best on the market. They deliver a close shave, the blade lasts for multiple shaves and they do not irritate the skin. Likewise the "Gillette Mach 3 Sensitive" razor will last you many shaves. It also does not irritate the skin, at all. Even being a disposable it is the best that I have found and I have tried them all. I hope this helps you and your viewers in your quest for the closest, best shave possible.

As a black man, I would recommend a double edge razor. Multiple blade razors lead to razor bumps for us. Different hair texture.

Which kind of safety razor for head shave? Simply this. If several days, longer hair, use double edge razor. If few days growth, shorter hair, use disposable or cartridge safety razor.
