Safety Razor vs Cartridge Razor #shorts

Between the two, I definitely prefer safety razors over cartridge razors. The biggest thing I like about safety razors are that the blades are extremely inexpensive. It's almost shocking how inexpensive they are. The second thing I like about them is that you can shave longer lengths of hair with less clogging than a cartridge razor.

Other people like to shave with them because they don't experience as much irritation with safety razors as they do with cartridge razors.

Even though they're called safety razors, the biggest downside is that there is a learning curve to them and you are more prone to nick yourself with them than a cartridge razor. However, the more you shave with them, the more experience you get, and the less you nick yourself.

For me, the money saved on replacement blades and being able to easily shave longer lengths of hair is worth the occasional nick.

Update I’m starting to get use to using a safety razor now and you’re right it is better than a cartridge razor I’ve noticed that I’m not getting razor bumps on my neck like I did whenever using a cartridge razor

Started shaving with a safety razor last year. Great investment. If you have good preperation, technique, and are paying close attention, you can definatly avoid nicking yourself with the safety razor for the most part. For me also it is a closer shave with less skin irritation.

I have both. Safety razor is cheaper but it takes me longer to shave. When i'm in a hurry i shave with mach 3 cartridge razor.

A safety razor is much easier than people think. You need good technique but its not even close to difficult. Watch some how to videos. There are thousands available.

I'll NEVER go back to cartridge razor, so safety razor BUT my personal favorite is straight razor

A good portion has to do with the prep process: a hot shower, a pre shave oil, a good shave soap or cream applied with a brush vigorously to the face and work up a good lather, a sharp blade, patience, followed with a cold water rinse and lastly, a soothing aftershave balm. I’ve been getting super close, irritation, free shaves much better than any cartridge razor could. I suggest highly in using safety razors.

I've used Disposable for 50 years, having always used Schick Xtreme 3 for many of those years. I've always thought that brand superior to many other brands, but as of late, I've noticed a downward spiral regarding quality. It's simply time to move on. I've never used a Safety Razor and that's how I arrived here.Thanks for the support.

cartridge razor will be safer specially when you go against the grain ! but safety razors are so much more aggressive, they can go deeper under the nose and will give you a closer shave ! and as you mentioned, double edge razors are cheaper !

I switched from cartridges to safety razors about three years ago. The first time using it and i cut myself, but that's all part of the learning curve. I got more experienced with it and I will never go back to cartridges again.

Single edge safety razors are just as easy to use in my opinion rarely ever get nicked

I was watching shaving videos recently and terms like “razor burn” and “clogging” came up which were things I didn’t think about anymore (like back when you had to smack electronics for them to work)

I’ve been shaving with a double edged razor for over a year and a half now and not only is it more closer, smoother and cheaper than cartridges but also really straightforward and nowhere near irritating or tedious and frustrating anymore.

As a woman, who doesn't have a beard, the learning curve is huge as I can't get any practice on a beard. I use it mainly for body shaving and still can't get the angle right.
