Been drooling over these but you mention a good point, may be worth waiting to see what Dell do in a few months.

the form-factor and power from this is awesome. i love 3:2 ratio for editing BUT i really hope this pushes Dell to update the XPS with a GTX 1060 and keep it more competitively priced

Looks amazing, though using a smartphone, surface pro & desktop combo it doesn't fit my needs, but I love how surface really gave us more options on how to run our tech configurations.

Really nice, your videos keep getting better. Perfect length for the video also. 10/10 :)

The reason for the hefty price tag is because MS simply doesn't want to hurt their OEM partners. Keep that in mind that the Surface lineup are aimed at Mac consumers, not their OEM partners..

What gets me is that people say surface book is expensive. If they can spend $1000+ on a phone then how is $1500 and $2500 expensive for them for a premium laptop/tablet?

I was in the same mess. Had been waiting for surface book refresh but ultimately had to go with Dell XPS 15. I feel bad a bit just seeing the new surface book.

Surface book is for those who need the tablet mode with a stylus, e.g. students, artists, engineers etc. For me it is essential to be able to highlight, annotate and sign pdf files, something that can't be done on a regular laptop.
If you only plan on using it for entertainment mostly (browsing, video watching with occasional video editing) buy microsoft surface laptop or the dell and save yourself some money.

Said it before. Bought the XPS 15 off your review and don’t regret it one bit. It’s a beast. I don’t think I would change my choice if I was looking again now. The detachable screen is of no use to me.
Great video as always 👍🏽

Tom I'm waiting for Coffee Lake H series. And the refreshed XPS. I'm hoping they fix the webcam and cooling solution. And add one more USB Type A port. But the Coffee Lake H series will make budget gaming and budget workstations a reality. That 35W i3 is gonna be a true quad core. The i5 will be 6 cores/6 threads. I can't wait to see what Dell does with that and it will give the consumers more choice.

I went with the surface pro 2017, mostly cuz it's smaller and lighter and don't like how surface book has it's SD card reader built into the keyboard, not the main screen portion so you loose SD functionality when not using the keyboard

I like when you start talking about price and you get to 2k+ you're in MacBook territory. Not actually comparing the two devices or mentioning value for money, just that the MacBook costs a shedload of dosh.

How can you even compare it to the MacBook pro the gtx1060 blows the Radeon 555 out of the

I know the price is high, but let's not forget that you have essentially a cintiq inside the screen, those run for 1.5k$ . If I were to spend the money separately on a similarly spec laptop, it would be 2k~2.5k$, then another 1.5k$ for a cintiq pro 16 = 3.5k~4k$, and I lose the portability of all in 1, the nice design, the weight, the space saving, the tablet detachment (really awesome for digital art), the large batteries, the lack of cables.
I personally think the thing is well prices, yes expensive as heck ( I expected around 3.8k euro) for the top spec in europe (ty VAT), but you get the value out of it, IF you are an artist as well.

Quick question... When the new precision 5520 (the mobile workstation version of the XPS 15) comes out early next year, do you think it's price will be similar to what it is now on dells website or will it go up?
