MTV Sets Sights On Reviving Total Request Live To Premiere In October

MTV president Chris McCarthy is working to revive Total Request Live, a popular music video countdown series from the early 2000’s. The new show is set to premiere as soon as October and will have a live, hour long format.

MTV is trying to bring back Total Request Live!

Total Request Live, or TRL to loyal fans, was a music video countdown show hosted by Carson Daly from 1997 to 2003. After Daly left, multiple other hosts took over until the show was canceled in 2008.

In a recent interview with The New York Times, MTV president Chris McCarthy revealed that the revival will be fast-tracked for an October release, with set construction already happening near Times Square.

The reboot’s format will be hosted by 5 relatively unknown VJs including Chicago radio personality Erik Zachary and rapper/comedian DC Young Fly.
