But wouldn’t the unpredictable location of Jupiter just be due to a lack of access to and comprehension of every mathematical factor in the universe? “Chaos” seems to be more indicative of ignorance than arbitrary freedom. Unless you’re proposing Jupiter might change its orbit because it simply feels like a change of scenery.

I would love for Terrance to be correct but the chaos is supposed to have come from the discoveries of the uncertainty principle in quantum mechanics that suggests an inconsistency of the nature of information regarding electrons that generate the ‘chaos’ found in predictions. My guess would be that the inconsistency found in quantum mechanics may be the result of living in a truly continuous causal environment (causal basically meaning determinist) and continuous insinuating infinite details which is extremely confusing to think of but in my opinion it better describes the phenomenon than Terrence’s theory.

Just because humans can't calculate the future doesn't mean the future is not predetermined. The momentum of time is not just the landscape, but also all the beings, their thoughts, feelings, and decisions inside it. Every single person, place, thing, or idea we can describe is inexorably bound to the causal chain that began with the origin of the universe. The matter and energy did not disperse and then open up like a playground for us to freely play in. WE ARE the continuation of the matter and energy from the beginning of the universe in motion. Some people call our decision-making faculties "free will", but you really have to stretch the definition of "free" for that claim to make any sense at all. If you're entire life is flowing from a set of genes, parents, culture, nutrition, etc. over which you had ZERO control, how free are you really?

One idea people don't consider enough is that the world can contain both free will AND determinism. Just because it is possible to predict what one will do doesn't mean that the person didn't decide it to be so.

Another idea is that if anything which is determined ahead of time becomes known, it can then be overridden by the knower. So then, to have the ability to predetermine something is to reshuffle the deck of cards again, once again shrouding the future.

There are certain nods in the wavefunction of reality that must be fulfillled. The probability of that particular event not to happen is zero. Everything inbetween has a multiplicity of possible paths that will lead to that specific occurance.

Truth doesn't need to have a possibility of "failure" if it's true. Truth would then by definition follow the steps through time from one understanding to another. Truth is tricky subject because it is determined already by our perception as a human.
