I would love to hear a lecture on how One Nation Conservatism affected the early politics of the British Domminions, like my home of Canada. Disraeli and our first PM MacDonald would have been contemporaries, and it would be interesting to hear if they influenced each other.

A lot of this is performative, and actually practical. In order to preserve the essential "order" and prevent a revolution, some concessions must be made. Being American (and a cynical one), we've seen this with FDR's New Deal, and LBJ's "Great Society's" social welfare programs.

These changes occur during crisis, and huge technological advances.

Monarchy is indeed, in large part, essential to British identity irrespective of class. State provided healthcare supports business.

We're in late stage Capitalism here in the States, and neo- liberal politics are proving disastrous.
