One can achieve more on all sides of the war by negotiations, rightly so, respecting Russia's super power status and federation of partner states. And allow Russia security in its Ukraine area. If I was Putin I definitely would negotiate with US President Trump to repair my nation even if that means letting go of the Ukraine.
