Seems like common sense. Unfortunately some idiots get dogs just cuz they like a certain look.

How about a recommendation for top 3 dog breeds for apartment tenants.

I have a cattle dog in an apartment. The trick is to teach them to run along your bike and increase your daily cardio.

NGL I had a Jack Russell terrier and it was the calmest, most loving family dog I’ve ever come in contact with. I knew multiple people with golden retrievers and our dog was the most polite I’d ever came across. Truly a loved member of the family

Basically any dog that's huge, that's loud, and/or that's high energy.

I have a boder collie in an apartment lol got lucky that her personality is to never bark and she just chills inside the house. Run her twice a day ( I work from home) and take her to obedience training. She’s really happy and well behave. But I agree a lot of work. But best dog I’ve had and I had many.

I ADORE Border Collies. Probably in my top 3. Would never own one for three reasons: 1) Minimal first hand experience training dogs 2) Tiny yard 3) Almost sedentary lifestyle. They are glorious little darlings that deserve far more than what I can offer.

The Jack Russell Terrier is straight facts. At one point my Mom had one in her apartment and once she moved out the landlord restricted the breed. Dakota was her name. She was not off leash trained, had zero recall, and she ended up running in the street which lead to her death. She lived to the age of 11.

Absolutely 100%! Thank you! If this saves one dog it is worth it!

I also have a cattle dog in a small apartment. I regularly exercise with him (up to 4 times a days) with walks, fetching and training basic skills. Tons of chewy toys, and he’s done! A very calm, nice and sweet dog🤗

My jack russel is a total mumma's boy who jus wants to get in people's laps and go to sleep most of the time. Once or twice a day he has a big burst of chaotic energy but most of the time he's way more chill than I expected him to be. Must have gotten a freak of nature hahaha

The Black Mouth Cur is another. Mine ran circles around my Heeler. Super athletes.

I had an Australian shepherd in an apartment for a while. He was older, so not as much energy, but still high energy. He barked all the time when we were gone, so we got some noise complaints. We had originally lived in a house with a yard for him to run around in, but had to move. Luckily, my mom could look after him at her house and let him run around. I miss that boy so much, but definitely wouldn't have another aussie in an apartment.

I adopted an Australian cattle dog / jack Russell mix from a brooklyn shelter and had it in my nyc apartment. I ran 5 to 10 miles a day with him, 10-15 on weekends. He herded pigeons on walks. He still shredded my couch pillows every other day. I ended up removing him to a ranch out west and he was soooo happy.

I have a 60 pound Jack Russell called a pitbull. No terrier should be couped up in a small place, unless you want him to tear the walls down.
