The fact that this man is willing to say he would gouge out someone's eyes and rip out their tongue just for whistling at us, and he actually chopped someone's hand off because they were thinking about doing something not nice to us, oddly flatters me. Second time through it occurred to me that maybe Listener is walking in the rough part of town to avoid people who might know she's from an immigrant family and accuse her of being a spy. Compared to jail, interrogation, trials, press coverage, suspicion even if acquitted and the blowback on everyone connected to her along with losing her job and being unable to find decent paying work elsewhere....a shortcut through a seedy part of town might seem like the better option. But I'm probably reading way too much into it. This is by far my favorite Whispurr audio to date.
