The property belongs to the bank. If the bank isn't removing him, then that's the bank's decision and the rest of the neighborhood just has to accept it.

I totally agree with you. Apparently it is legal. These people should address the law not the person following the law.

just act like you bought the house at first keep all your past utility bills and save money to pay the property tax all at once when you make you're claim if someone you have to fool the neighbors into thinking you own it

trespassing is not always illegal; in the case of squatting under certain circumstances, it is not illegal, and yes, can ultimately result in ownership if there is no contest by the owner.

the law is in the books to keep homes going and not falling down. some homes you could get away with doing this. homes that are in somewhat bad shape. no one would most likely question that you own it. then after so many years then you could do the right paper work and make the property yours.

Have the neighbors considered whether they despise living next to a rent-free occupant, or next to a dilapidated mansion more? Use it or lose it! bwahaha.

Hes smart, and took advantage of the law. Not his fault.

Would you prefer the man sleeping on the sidewalk or in jail while the house is rotting empty and vandalised just because the real estate gang ripped YOU off?

Kmt don't be upset cos you worked hard while your neighbour worked smart. I get its annoying and I'd be mad too but ultimatly jokingly happy about the situation.

Legal is legal. Are you going to arrest a guy for following the law?

Adverse possession is a good thing, if someone isn't living in a property and is letting it decay someone can move in and fix it up to make it their home. Ownership isn't just having the deed to the property but maintaining it. Also, adverse possession doesn't let you live somewhere for free as you have to pay taxes and maintenance on the property, and it isn't obscure but a common way for people who will never be able to buy a home to be able to afford it.

A person's mental if they think they can get away with a house like that for 7 years unseen LMAO.

Adverse possession is an interesting law. I just wish someone would tell me HOW to do it in New York because my long time girlfriend passed away in June and although we had lived together since 2010, my name isn't on anything.
