The steel is a good choice, you want somewhat flexible high carbon steel vs stainless steel for a blade that length. The only problem I see is the if you use it as a thrusting weapon, there is no handguard to keep your hand from sliding forward. I can think of one way to help that would be to put a lanyard with a large attachment device near the edge of the blade itself. That way, it still looks like a regular medical use cane, but has the bulk of the lanyard attachment to act as a handguard if you do have to thrust with it.

Real question from whoever buys this.
I know how long the cane is, 37.??? inches. I’m not that tall for the cane to be comfortable. I have a hacksaw for the cane/scabbard. How long is the blade itself. I can’t find real specs on the blade

Yeah, sure. Yo use this on an attacker and YOU'LL be the one heading to prison. Unless your life is in "clear and present danger", use of force with a lethal weapon is a guaranteed felony and attempted murder charges. Edit: Even carrying a heavy bokken as a cane is an unsure bet in regards to legalities.
