Speaker Biography: Kate DiCamillo is a former National Ambassador for Young People's Literature of the Library of Congress and the Children's Book Council (2014-2015). Her novel "Flora & Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures" won the 2014 Newbery Medal. DiCamillo also won the Newbery for "The Tale of Despereaux" in 2004. Her first published novel, "Because of Winn-Dixie," won a Newbery Honor. She says of stories: "When we read together, we connect. Together, we see the world. Together, we see each other." DiCamillo's latest book is the National Book Award finalist "Raymie Nightingale."
