Hey Dominik! I am American, but my great aunt is from Germany and passed away when I was little so mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut. :/ anyhow, I'm a huge fan of your videos. Watch them over and over and I just wanted to say that the first thing I think of when I hear "German" or "Germany" is NOT WWII. I think of a great, beautiful country, hard working people, and a wonderful culture! Markus von Amerika. :)

I fell in love with Germany on the first sight as i came out of the airplane at Tegel, Berlin. When i went to the city, i first looked for a place to eat. So i decided to head to the Burger King. It was so freakin awesome. I took some very big meal called "Big King XXL" or something and it cost less than 3 euros, yes the whole meal. I mean wtf? Here in Finland such a things cost more than 15 euros, which is just crazy. And the low prices that they have, i was in a 5 star hotel, which i only paid about 70 euros per night. And that lovely Milka chocolate and other German goodies, which were also so cheap that i bought them and gained weight about 10 kilos :P That wasn't that much fun, but anyways, i love Germany. And the thing just like in Paris, in the morning, go to have a nice breakfest on the conditory just across the street. Fresh worm bread, just perfect. Ich liebe dich, Deutschland <3

My list:
1. Language
2. Literature (Well, the credit really oes to Germany, Austria and Switzeland)
3. Smart, kind and good looking people
4. Chocolate
5. Cuisine in general
6. Pop and rock music (I am serious)
7. Dialects (I don't understand dialects well, but I got an impression that different regions have their unique "face". I love this variety, where the fact that you are from Norden makes you different from someone from Bayern, not in a bad way, just in a sense that your roots matter. Correct me if I'm wrong:))
8. Robustness (Can't think of a better word. I find German history very inspiring. And I do get goose bumps when I hear Wir sind wir by Peter Heppner, shame on me!)
9. German comedies (somewhat unexpected, uh? German comedies are bizarre, they are sometimes sad as much as they are funny, but I love it)
10. Did I mention smart and good looking people?

Hey! I’m still here to write one more long comment)

I just want to add some facts about Germany which I love (and which you probably don’t notice because you are German):

1 Science, there are so many MPI or another institutes and I think that it a such a good place for being scientist. Germany is one of the best countries for science.

2 Bicycle roads. They are awesome!

3 Go vegan! It’s so easy to be a vegan or vegetarian in Germany, you can buy Veggieburger even in McDonalds! Unbelievable! And even Dürum! Actually there are so many yummy-yummy things that are vegetarian in Germany.

4 You can just go to the University and even with the friend from another University

5 You have your own room in the student house, you share with another student only kitchen and bathroom. You can easily invite your friend at your place in the student house and your friend should give his-her document to the security in order to just visit you.

6 You can rent the apartment even the whole life and you haven’t to buy your own apartment in order to be “successful” man (but you have to be an engineer)

7 Tolerance. You can have tattoos, piercing, be a vegan, be a gay (ho no, I probably shouldn’t write it! Maybe some guys are already looking for me) and nobody will look at you like at such a awful person.

8 Ecology. Germans take care about it. The doors will not open unless you push the button in the Bus, the light in the house is off when nobody use it, and Deutsche trennen Müll.

10 And I must add to this list the most beautiful thing - German language! Many people think that German is scary but actually I think that German is such a beautiful language and I like it! Ich mag Deutsch sprechen. Deutsch ist sehr schön!

I live in Germany and I totally love it. I can't think about going back to Italy and I'll do anything in my power to stay here and study next year. Right now I'm an aupair and my Host family is helping me having the best German experience ever! Unfortunately I don't really like the bread. At least the one we ear at home. My HM always buys the Bauern Brot but I don't really like it. Sometimes she buys other kinds of bread, but at the end of the day, I really prefer Italian bread. Back in Italy people told me that the life here in Germany is more expensive, but right now everything is a lot cheaper. I don't know, things I buy in Italy I find them here for half the price. I LOVE Germany. And your videos are pretty good. Keep up the good work.

I agree with EVERYTHING you just said. You missed out something though..The people here are soo warm and kind. ^_^ At first sight, they look mean and rude. But when you just smile at them or something they automatically warm up and become unbelievably kind. :) And you could go ANYWHERE and ask a german for directions and they would never leave you until you find the place you were looking for. :o

I was actually born in Germany back in '93. After a couple years my parents moved back to America where I've remained since. Sometimes I really wish I could go back to Germany, even if it was for a week.

Ok so I am from the U.S. and I'm learning German on my own with help from a friend from Germany and your videos are awesome! Everything is right on the money! Like this one. I visited my friend for two weeks and 2 days before leaving Germany I was homesick about leaving Germany lol. I love my country but Germany is such a great country! The food...the beer...the women. I'm not a huge chocolate fan but your chocolate and candy is amazing haha. I would love to live in Germany for a little while even though it's a bit of a hassle from what I hear. But it's really hard to hate your country.

I really enjoyed my time in Germany, most of the time in the North, a bit in Bavaria and the East to Dresden .
What struck me most about my time there, is the diversity of interests, independent thinking and the nightlife in the city centers, literally explosive ..
It is truly a beautiful country with so much to do .
You get value for money, more so than any other European sovereign .

Here in the US (I'm right outside Philadelphia) you can expect to pay around $850 a month for a one bedroom apartment in a decent area... ugh! now I want to move to Germany even more!!
