When I go in to fix/standardize a location, I like to place a comment saying "standardizing location", that way if anyone else who is following or who comes along, knows why I made a "change" for that person. If there is already a comment listed for that event about why the information is correct, I will place my comment after theirs. That way all comments are still available for those who come along later.

Great tips! Great to know about the section that tells you on the fan chart someone needs attention.

Oh wow! I rarely use FS because I find so many errors and I do all my work on my Ancestry tree. But this "birth country" feature you pointed out for the fan chart is awesome! Thanks!

If you want to correct the standardised birth/death place all you have to do is delete the last letter, of the place name, retype it and click in the grey area below. The place then becomes standardised. The same can be done for dates. This is what I do every time this occurs. Thanks for all your videos. Stay safe.

Thank you! I found those enumeration maps at one point and could never find them again as I couldn't remember what they were called. I'm getting to the point where most videos don't give me any new info, so I truly appreciate those last 2 tips.

Great video, Connie! Loved the hint you mentioned for Randolph Co., NC, since we both have relatives there.

WOW!! Thank you! I was a bit (a lot!) overwhelmed by all of the Wiki info. You've just made it less intimidating!

Thanks for this excellent video! I've been using FamilySearch for over a decade & didn't know about these techniques!

Very cool! I always learn something new from your videos! Today, it was your easy way of finding unindexed images. Thanks for that! Just a quick note to say that Ancestry has the 1940 enumeration maps indexed, so you can search by location.

I love this video & can't wait to check out the enumeration district info. Did you notice the Attach to family tree button on the upper right corner? Have you tried it?

There is so much data in the US. I wish we had half of this for Brazil.

I hope I can use these. I have a paternal Great Gmother and Maternal Great Gfather that I cannot find their parents. It is so frustrating.

Good morning Connie! Do you have a video on how to save research on Family Search? I am new to that site, and when adding a new person (no one else has them in their tree) I just write my evidence titles from Ancestry. I don’t know how to “Attach” the real record. Thank you for your assistance in this.

This hit close to home, literally! I'm from one county away in Kansas, & 2x great-grandparents came from Randolph County, NC. Doesn't look like we're related, but it's unexpected fun. Good vid, as always! May help me answer a question about an ancestor on the other side of my family.

FYI - I don't think these tools are available any longer unless you purchase the new "Pro Tools" package (referring to the fan).
