Kindle Scribe Killer? | Kobo Elipsa 2E E-Reader Unboxing & Tour

Unboxing the Kobo Elipsa 2E with a hands-on review of the features and comparison vs Amazon's Kindle Scribe to see which is the best eReader of 2023.

The Kobo Elipsa 2E offers a similar stylus-driven reader experience, with a slightly larger 10.3-inch e-ink display. It's great for annotating and highlighting passages in your ebooks, while performance and battery life are also respectable. That said, the Kindle Scribe offers a larger online catalogue and also boasts a bigger battery than the Kobo Elipsa 2E.

I like the design, while paranoid users can slap on a Sleep Cover for £70 more. Considering the Elipsa 2E costs £350 UK to begin with however, that's quite the investment.

The Kobo Store is well stocked these days, including a decent selection of audio books. You can also join Kobo Plus if you want to download a huge number of titles for a small monthly fee.

6:44 with the Kobo, you can actually just slide up and down in the left margin within a book to change the brightness. That way you don't have to go into the settings.

I bought the scribe, people told me it was to big to read on but I actually love reading on the big scribe, and it’s probably not as heavy as some hardback books.

Can you flip flop between a note screen and a book?. I like to build family trees of characters as I read.

I’m not a fan of the new cover. It only protects the front so I will have to purchase a third party cover for it, and now you have to purchase it separately. Thanks for the vid!

Got a kobo forma 4 & 1/2 years ago and thought i should mention that the cable you say seem pretty hardy still holds up until this day. The main unit as well. 10/10 but got an elipsa for next to nothing so may switch

Had the first elipsa. It was nice but the lag for writing was an absolute joke. Switched to the boox note air plus 2 and much happier

Better this than a 200$ book. For 45$ you can get the LOTR deluxe plus illustration instead of the harper paint for 225$. For binge reading series, a kobo pays for itself.

Because of the totally free eco system I'd go with Kobo, always.
The price of the sleep cover is beyond ridiculous.
Also, Kobo will never spy on your content, and never delete titles.
