Nowadays the most popular network automation tool is Ansible. CBT Nuggets trainer John McGovern dives into Ansible, what it is, and how network administrators can use Ansible to automate devices.

Ansible was developed by Red Hat and released in 2012. In the world of network automation, there are two basic automated provisioning techniques: pull and push. The push model was one reason why Red Hat gained so much traction early on with Ansible. Using the push model, so long as you have the ability to SSH into a device, you can automate that device with Ansible.

00:00 - Introduction to What is Ansible
00:29 - Where did Ansible come from?
02:58 - Using the push model with Ansible
03:52 - Configuring devices with Ansible
05:59 - Restconf and Netconf
06:44 - Usability with Ansible
08:44 - Concurrency with Ansible

Ansible is flexible; it allows you to automate many devices. But is that the only reason for its staggering popularity? Keep watching to learn more.

As a "traditional" network engineer who has been hesitant/resistant to the automation changes in the industry, this was very informative. Thanks!

I’ve watched enough Star Trek to know I should implicitly trust any engineer with that accent.
