Major rains along with record snow pack could amount to danger

California has not seen rain like we're having in many years. That's extremely helpful to filling the Golden State's water starved dams; especially the major mega dams tens of millions of Californians depend on. But, with precipitation, too much of a good thing requires intense oversight and management, round the clock, by reservoir and dam operators.

What excuse will they come up with this summer? When they let all this water run to the Pacific and cry "drought"

California needs more ponds, lakes and reservoirs to store water and fix a broken rain cycle.

No, the Oroville situation happened because the Spillway was already damaged

It’s not danger..it’s manna from heaven 😊 we all gotta look at this in a most positive light. Yes there was destruction and loss of life… which is tragic. But these storms have taught us many lessons! Such as building more reservoirs, balancing nature w housing development etc.

It's not the dam that fills, it's the reservoir. And the snow pack is not 225% above average, it's 225% of the average.

Stop the climate change rhetoric. I’ve lived in CA 60 years. These cycles are completely normal.

Difficult situation. I remember water being released in preparation for winter water and then there was none.

California's climate changed from a very dry climate to a very wet climate. What really changed was the path of the Jet Stream bringing rivers of moist air across the Pacific.

Just had to bring in the Climate Change politics. Regardless, severe weather events haven't increased at all in the last 40 years.

Climate change my butt, we have had storms like this off and on for centuries. 6, 7 years ago, 92, 97. It is called weather and we have every year at different rates.

The PhD climatologists I trust say there is absolutely no climate crisis.

I wish the media would stop inducing fear and focus on how all this record rain and snow will help us in agriculture, reservoir replenishment and above all…refill our ground water aquifers! The CENTRAL VALLEY IS SINKING …over 6 feet at some points due to loss of ground water….where’s the tv crews!

Now they’re bitching about too much water. This is what happens when you dismantle reservoirs.
