A game changer for me in breaking down sheet goods was putting a 4x8 sheet of 1" ridged insulation under my plywood. It acts as a sacrificial support and greatly reduces tear-out. Can use it when drilling holes too.

Five years ago I did that same bed build. It was an enjoyable protect to do. It turned out well and it sure makes a single use room into a multiple use room. It is very practical to do.

Hey, April. Thanks for the step-by-step follow-along! One suggestion for you regarding sanding, and that is to do it prior to assembly, and especially prior to bedding down your hardware, as it's much more time consuming and difficult to do after it's in place. If you're worried about scruffing the sanded surfaces, a light wash coat of waterborne sanding-sealer sprayed on with your Fuji Spray HVLP spray system (which I know you've got, as we've seen you use it before), will do the job. And the nice thing about it is that when you apply your mild paint, the surface will be even smoother!

Great looking project, and very well presented! If you ever do another Murphy, I'd love to see you review/install one of those 'desk beds', where a desk hangs off the bed bottom, is a desk in the up position and the bed's foot/pedestal when down, but stays level throughout, so you don't have to unload it to use the bed. Our smallish guest bedroom would benefit from it, but I haven't seen the model or video yet that suits me, and you'd do a great job, as always!
