Fun story: many years ago, a couple of geeky friends of mine got their hands on a high-voltage generator (a cascade multiplier that could generate arcs across almost 3 feet). I had the bright idea of putting a box of styrofoam packing peanuts on top of it and turning on the power. The first outcome was expected: the peanuts went flying everywhere. The second outcome was not: the peanuts acquired a charge and stuck to *everything*. In particular, the ceiling. It took us several hours to clean up!

My Physics teacher did this demonstration with us in junior year, and she showed us a picture of one of her former students with the best hair EVER. The kid had long, straight hair, and it was sticking straight out in all directions like a perfect sphere. It was incredible to see
