I keep coming back to this channel to become a better clinician. Supervaluable content. Needless to say a huge thank you to Dr Mellick and all the patients and caregivers that allow for this content to be produced. Keep up the amazing educational work :)

Thank you for posting this type of content. I work as a paramedic preceptor and love sharing these videos with my crew. The information is informative and direct, and it greatly helps us with our prehospital assessments and treatments.

I've broken a lot of bones, a lot (juvenile osteoporosis), but never my skull. That must be scary. Good thing it's minor and he seems to have a great dad. Keep posting more videos!

I have been watching a ton of your content and even though I am only a phlebotomist I have learned a lot and I want to express my gratitude for everything you do! Some of the things you have been through including thoracotomies takes a very intelligent leader to accomplish! Thank you!

The non-admission of a child is because:
1. The aggregated psychological Stress for the child?
2. The costs for unnecessary tests/hospital observation?

Or both? Great video again Dr. Mellick.

When I was about 14 I crashed my dirt bike and had a skull fracture with a subgaleal hematoma. The calcification Larry is mentioning I have as well.

Another nice presentation. You never disappoint (unless you didn't give him a lollipop afterwards).

Thank you so much for your video. My 3-month-old fell off a low bed actually fractured his skull. His right part of the head is rather squishy. Without your video, I think I would be very worried. Thank you so much.

Sure hope that the other boy got checked out too. I can imagine the impact was brutal for both kids.

I love how you back this up with the research for the people in the comment section that would probably say you’re a horrible doctor for not admitting the child 🤪 you’re such an amazing doctor and I get so excited when you upload! 😃

My now 18 yr old had a skull fracture when he was 7 or 8.
He slipped and fell full force against the corner of a piece of furniture.
The ER had just brought in the 5 or 6 victims of a bad car accident, so we went to the urgent care. They sewed up the wound and sent him home without x-ray or anything.
3 months or so later, he banged that spot again, and it swelled up like a softball, so I took him to the ER. While the second injury was soft-tissue injury, they said that they could see on the x-ray that he had a fracture that was healed where he fell the first time.
Urgent care totally missed it.
This is the same urgent care that saw a college student who had severe road rash, and just bandaged it up and sent her home - they didn't even clean the dirt and rocks out.

Should I ever end up in an ER again I hope I have a doctor like Mr. Mellick.

Question: why would or wouldn’t you want to have the child wear a helmet for a few weeks?
