This is heartbreaking. Those who wind up living like this do not want to live this way. It's just the best they can do at the moment. It is an outward expression of how their internal life is going, whether physical, or mental, or emotionally. I’ve always lived really super neat, clean and organized. My husband is a slob who can’t throw anything out and I didn’t know that at all when we got together. He rules the house with an iron fist and if you throw something out he pulls it out of the garbage and yells about it. It’s just wearing on my mental health.

Question!! isnt it a safety hazard grabbing with your hands? what if you accidentally got pricked by some needles, let alone a kitchen knife that got in that pile? that alone could cause an infection or something.

I can understand the desire to hold onto something you feel has value and you might want to use it later, but why hoarders hold on to complete garbage is what puzzles me. This video seems to show most of the collection is empty food containers which has no re-use value.
